Chapter 21

-Danni's POV-

I slammed into Severus' father, barely fighting the urge to rip him to shreds. I put a large black paw on the back of his neck and my quiet growl echoed in the room.

"Help me Severus!" his father gasped, struggling.

'NO HURT,' I roared and put more pressure on the mans back. Severus pulled out his wand and pointed at me, making my small round ears twitch. I climbed off the man and turned back into a hedgehog before he could see.

"Father you are drunk and seeing things,it was only a hedgehog," Severus said quietly a while later with me in his lap while he tried to calm down his father.

"It was a giant black bear! it was going to kill me!"

Severus sighed, "Father maybe you should stop drinking, it's obviously messing with your head," he flinched when his father moved up suddenly and seemed surprised when he didn't get hit.

"Your right. You and your mother are right," Mr.Snape pulled a two bottles out from under the couch, "Horrible parent I have been... here can you go throw these out for me? I'll ask your mother if she can use that spell, Accio, I think it was to get rid of any other bottles."

Severus seemed beyond shocked and I was barely able to hide my smile. If he had turned around he would see a blank wall, but his father could see what Sev's worst memories were.

Most of them involved his father.

*******Three days later*********

I clasped my cloak and changed into a small owl.

"Dans? Where the hell are you going? Your back had barely healed!" Severus snapped.

'I never break my promises, ill be back tomorrow afternoon,i promise,' I chirped and flew off into the fading sun.

The small hollow in the forest had always been where Remus transformed outside of school, and he had been there last full moon too.

I remembered my promise, and I never break my promises.

Never.

I flew down and changed into a kitten, wincing as my back changed. I was early, as Peter's last letter said Remus was stressed out lately, and I know that sometimes makes Remus transform early.

Remus stumbled into the hollow, his eyes widening and his jaw dropping as his eyes landed on where I was seated.

'I never break my promises.'

'Soft one,' The wolf snarled, baring his teeth at me.

'Moony,' I meowed.

The wolf snapped his jaws around my neck, colors swarmed over my eyes as I flew across the hollow.

I struggled to get up, the moon was slowly going down, but I couldn't get up, my muscles burned from the pain, and I collapsed back into the dust. The wolf came over slowly, drooling with bloodied fangs.

He stopped and howled, falling over on his side as he slowly changed. Remus fell to the ground, his breathe coming in quick pants.

I changed into my human form and put pressure on the bite on my neck.

"I-I absolutely deserved that," I panted, laying flat on my back, my eyes closed.

The quick pants stopped, "W-why did you come?"

I didn't move, "I would never leave you in pain."

Remus let out a choked sob, "Y-you said that to me a while back. A few weeks into the summer before second year actually."

I took a shuddering breathe, "And? Did you expect me to lie? I love you, your my brother and I wouldn't leave you."

There was a hand on my neck, "Merlin, I'm so sorry Danni."

I opened my eyes, ember against amber, "Don't be. I deserved this. It's my fault Mum and Dad were killed. I should've just gone with Flora that day on the train. I should have kept my mouth shut."

Remus stiffened,"Flora Hope was on the train?"

I gasped, the pain finally catching up to me, "Yes! It was my fault Remus!"

I closed my eyes tight, my back was on fire, my hands pulling against the bars of the muggle cage. The ground under me was made of steel, it was heating up quick. I leaned against the bars, watching the flames flare around me, Kingsdon's wicked laugh filled the air.

"It was never your fault! Danni I shouldn't have believe Grandmother. I'm sorry. I'm sorry!"

He pulled me into a hug, tears rolling down his cheeks once I opened my eyes again.

"I-I've come to every moon," I gasped, "I just left after I knew you were okay."

Remus sobbed into the back of my shirt and I blocked the pain out.

"I promised Severus I would be back by tomorrow afternoon, I have to start flying now if I want to keep my promise."

Remus let go of me, his eyes wide, "Your still bleeding!"

"I know, I'll be fine, Severus is brilliant at potions. Love you," I said and kissed his cheek, before changing into the same tawny owl as before and flying out of the hollow.
