With eager eyes, she handed me my gift. She had purposely saved it for last. Atop the large box was a letter in a make-shift envelope with a large heart drawn in gold marker. Un-taping the back, I pulled out the letter which was also written in gold.
I know this year's been rlly tough on you. I Love you so much and I admire your intense faith and courage through it all. I know the construction has you really worked up so I wanted to give you something they can NEVER take away. Plus, it doesn't die pretty much EVER. I hope you love it.
Blinking back tears, and more curious than ever about what was in the enormous box, I tore the paper off. As I cut the tape on the top of the box, I could faintly see green. Opening it entirely, what I found shocked me.
Snuggly cushioned in masses of packing paper, sat a small bonsai tree, no more than four inches high. I couldn't even take it out of the box before I hugged her, crying, mostly with joy.
For the rest of the night, I held the little thing in my hand, stroking it's small branches.
