HEATHER was missing.
The moment Stiles found out, he couldn't stay calm. He felt guilty as he was supposedly the last person to see her, but he just thought she had been with her other friends all night. Scott had been listening to Noah inform his son about the situation, and told Sierra. She couldn't believe her ears and instantly, her heart ached as she thought of what Stiles was going through.
This was the girl who was one of his friends, before he met Scott or Sierra. Their moms had been close, and always gushed how cute their children were as they played hide and seek or tag in the backyard. Sierra knew how important Heather was to Stiles, because at one point she had been her friend as well. However, unlike the boy in the plaid, she didn't click with her as much as he did.
They disagreed and squabbled over the tiniest of things, but now, all Sierra wanted was for the blonde to be found so she could give her a huge hug. Stiles hadn't really spoken much since he found out, but told Scott that maybe the pack of alphas had kidnapped her. After all, teenagers were easier to turn into werewolves.
"What would a pack of alphas want with a beta?" Scott questioned him as they walked down the hall. It was a good idea, but really didn't make a whole lot of sense.
"You know what? I don't care," Stiles stated in exasperation. Heather reminded him of his mom and meant a lot to him; he needed to find her.
"Then we need Isaac to remember," Scott concluded, remembering the curly-haired werewolf had tried, but failed previously. There had to be another way, one that didn't necessarily involve a bunch of supernatural dogs. He quickly explained that Deaton, the vet he worked for and who had helped them previously, might have a solution. "Would you mind if Sierra came though?" he asked his best friend carefully, aware of the thin ice between the pair. "Isaac trusts her and me, so having her there will make things easier."
Stiles sighed, "I guess if she makes things run smoothly, then yeah, she needs to be there."
"Have you spoke to her at all?"
"We did, and it ended with her giving me the space I realized I don't want," Stiles revealed and bit down on his lip, once again remembering the look on her face before she had left his room.
Scott shot him a puzzled look, "How'd you come to that conclusion?"
"Heather, um, was actually the one who helped me," Stiles said, wincing as he heard the small crack in his voice after he said her name. "I mean, you saw her kiss me but she noticed that I obviously wasn't as into it. She told me that since I love Sierra, then I just need to go for it."
"I agree," Scott nodded. "Last time you waited too long and only got to go out with her for like a week or two. You know she loves you, so what's holding you back?"
"You know how Coach was talking about risk and reward?" Stiles asked instead, though he had a point. "Well, in my situation, the risk is dating her until we inevitably fight so much that we break-up, which would lead me straight back to square one."
"You're scared," Scott concluded, reading in between the lines. Stiles didn't say anything, proving the werewolf to be correct.
"I already lost her once," he finally stated with a sigh, one of his hands holding his backpack on his shoulder as he looked desperately at his best friend. "I can't lose her again."
"You're letting the risk blind you," Scott persisted, "and you're forgetting about the reward."
"Which is what?"
"Sierra," the teen wolf told him firmly. "You'll finally be with her, Stiles. You'll get to be happy, and she will be happy...and that outweighs any possible situation you could come up with in that confusing head of yours."
