Getting to know Her

I can't believe she said those words to me.-to me!  I didn't respond to her. Instead, I kissed her, just a soft kiss. But when we pulled apart, we looked into each other's eyes, both drugged by immense passion and kissed again. This time it was so full of emotion - mainly wanting and desperation, I guess, that it lasted like a whole minute. Yeah, that's how long we kissed.

After that though, she'd been my girlfriend ever since.

One time, on our date, I took her to this bay beside our old elementary school. We were just listening to the sound of the waves crashing to shore when I saw her looking by the playground and suddenly laugh to herself.

"What's so funny?" i said. She smiled and leaned to me.

"I uh, it's just uh...It's been my dream to be a teacher one day, playing with little children, teaching them stuff, seeing their happy faces." she said.

"You will, one day." i said.

"How about you?" she asked, nudging me. "For your career, I mean." she said, curiously.

"I wanna be a doctor. I wanna help save lives." i said, proudly.

"That sounds wonderful.." she said, staring at the horizon.

I chuckled and said "I know...but..."

"But what?"

"Nothing.."

I held her hand and smiled, looking at her.

"I hope you fulfill your dream.." she said.

"We both will." i said.

The following weekend, Jane insisted that I join her family for dinner.

"You'll finally get to meet my parents!" she said cheerfully.

Yay? - Not.

I suck at first impressions. I mean, what if they don't like me?

They will like you. They have to!

Wow. Did you just give me a compliment?

Yeah, yeah..

You just did! WTF!!!

Shut up or I'll take it back!

"Ok!" i said out loud, a little too agressively. Jane stared at me but changed the topic.
