The next day, I woke up with a slight headache.

I had to stumble downstairs and get an Advil so I could at least try to stop the hurting in my head.

And as I passed the full-body length mirror, I spotted the hickey on my neck that I almost forgot about. I inspected it,  touching carefully and then wincing as it burned under my fingertips. Damn it, Luke.

Luke. Oh God.

I decided to switch the clothes I was wearing before doing anything. So I grabbed my favourite Whatcha Lookin' At black long-sleeve shirt, some washed jeans and slipped on my navy blue vans. I combed my hair before tying it in a ponytail.

Then I spotted the hickey again. I tried to cover it with some makeup and it did look better, almost unnoticeable.

With one satisfied sigh, I exited the bathroom and headed to the kitchen because my stomach was growling.

And as I prepared some cereal and milk, my cell rang.

''Chloe speaking. '' I said, my mouth half-full.

''Alexander on the line.'' the voice of my cheeky father spoke, bringing a smile on my face. ''Hi dad.'' I cheered back and heard his lovely deep laugh from the other end of line.

''How's it going princess?'' he asked.

''Good, good.''

''You okay?''

''I'm grand. What about you? When are you coming back, I miss you here?'' I sort of whined, resembling a little girl who misses her daddy. I almost laughed at my own behavior.

''I'm great. We just got ourselves a big deal with one of the biggest companies in Australia, so I hope I'll be coming back earlier than intended. I just am not sure when will tht be, but I'll keep you updated. ''

We talked for some more and then he said he needed to go because his partner was calling him. We said our regular goodbyes and then the line went dead.

I ate my breakfast in peace but then the sound of the doorbell ringing interrupted. I ambled towards the front door, wondering who will that be.

''Chloe!'' loud chorus said as I swung the door open, revealing my two best friends.

A smile appeared on my face.

''Mikey, Ari, hi!'' they followed me inside, where Michael immediately poured himself a bowl of cereal, joining me at the kitchen table where we ate together. Ari just sat there, watching us.

''Anything new? How are things going with the cutie?'' Ari asked and I gave her a raised-eyebrow look. She elaborated. ''Luke, what happened with him?''

I shrugged. ''We kind of got into a fight. ''

They insisted I elaborate. And I did. I explained what happened, realising that I used the wrong word. It wasn't a fight, it was just Luke's overreaction (or that's what I thought about it) and my stubbornness. I also realised that I need to talk to him. And soon.

''Oh God, you really need to talk to him Chloe!'' Ari shook her head. ''You were being unreasonable, the boy was just protecting you from his nosey brothers!''

I sighed. I noticed Michael was silent the whole time so I looked over to him.

''Mike? What do you say? You're being surprisingly quiet, you're creeping me out.'' I told him and Michael shrugged.

''I agree with Ariana, you two need to talk. You both overreacted.'' he said, taking another mouthful of the cereal in front of him.

I nodded.
