Chloe's POV
Shutting the front door closed, my feet padded towards the kitchen so I could grab a glass of water before I head upstairs for a nice warm shower.
And as I did so, a sudden sound of door closing made me spin around in fright.
''Oh my God!'' I squeaked, my eyes bulging out of their sockets. ''Dad?''
And the man of the day, himself, stood on the door frame with his arms crossed on his chest as his face held a frown. I immediately realised that I'm in trouble, but I tried playing it off.
''When did you come home?'' I asked, my tone unnaturally high pitched.
Dad shuffled on his feet, sending me the look that said: don't even try to get out of this.
''First of, why are you not in school?'' he said shortly, but his voice was firm and strict. A result of being a businessman, I guess.
I gulped, looking down at my feet. ''I-I guess I skived...''
''You skived?'' he questioned, kind of as if he was mocking me.
I nodded, shamefully.
''Second, where were you if you skived?'' he pressed on, now only a couple of feet away as his arms stayed folded, the frown as if etched on his flawless face.
What do I tell him? He doesn't know about Luke-wait does he? No, I never told him anything about Luke. For all he knows, I am single and have no interest in anyone.
''You want the truth, or do I lie?'' I asked, staring up at him with an apologetic expression.
Dad surprised me by actually chuckling a little.
''What would you say if I told you to lie?''
I smiled.
''I'd tell you that I couldn't go to school because I was helping kids in Ghana survive because I'm such an amazing human being.'' I told him, being dead serious, but failing at that too, because a giggle broke out.
Dad nodded, as if considering that.
''But if I asked you whose shirt that is, you'd tell me that a homeless kid gave it to you because he was so loaded that a shirt didn't mean anything to him?'' he said, nodding towards the shirt I had on myself.
I immediately felt my cheeks redden at that, glancing down at Luke's piece of clothing. I knew it was wrong to take it, I knew it!
''I may have gotten it from my boyfriend?'' I said it as a question, getting my dad's eyes to narrow even more. Shit.
''Your what?'' he almost shrieked seconds later, me making a grimace.
''Dad, I'm sorry, I guess I just... forgot to mention him.''
''Chloe, answer me, how long were you and your boyfriend together?'' he questioned, trying to keep his calm.
I bit my lip. ''I'm not exactly sure...'' I trailed, my eyes dropping down again.
A loud sigh came from him. ''All this time, you never mentioned that you had a boyfriend?''
I nodded, saying nothing.
''Were you with him last night?''
I looked up. ''Not in that way, dad we were away, he took me on a... well, some sort of trip. We had to sleep in his car because the storm had started and he didn't want to drive through it. And as soon as we woke up, he drove me home.'' I told him, kind of rushing the words.
