Evangeline

We return back to the castle with a quarter of us piled on top of a wagon we found near the village. They have become corpses, nonetheless.

And I can't help but to hate myself of killing them. But for the sake of me and my mission. They're dead anyway, but may they rest in peace.

Except for me. I'm gonna carry their deaths with me until death for I have broken one of the most sacred tenets of my Order.

The wagon was separated from us, same as the rotting smell of the corpses. They are to be buried properly tonight, Sebastian has told me.

The both of us enter the throne room once again, this time the audience was added with three group of families; the families of the guards I've killed I suppose.

If they had known, they would have attacked me already.

I was about to walk further towards the front of the empty thrones but someone had grabbed me by the wrist and dragged me back to the hallway.

"You have to tell me everything of the Assassin's features," Bash says roughly, his hand never letting go of me. My wrist begins to throb of his firm grip. "Before you tell everybody, including my Father and the King himself."

My brain moves to create the Assassin's features no less than a second. Then Alexander slips in. "He was wearing a hood, but I saw his face clearly. He has jet black hair, piercing green eyes, and-and his only weapon was a blade." Think it's more believable than a wrist blade.

"Was it a wrist blade?"

My heartbeats quicken. He must be a mind-reader. "I don't know, he was holding it I suppose."

"The Assassins' main weapon of choice are wrist blades rather than knives." He states. "What you saw back there, Evie, don't say most of it, or they'll see you as a potential suspect, do you understand?"

I look at him shockingly. "What?"

"Just-" He was cut off when the King was heading towards our direction after turning from a corner. Bash guides me back to the throne room. It seems people can't seem to get enough of gossiping about the both of us.

I was about to take off my hood when I realized something. The blood on my wrist mark, I forgot to wipe it off completely.

The jester has announced for me to step forward after the Royals have took their seats on their thrones. Mary and Francis continue to stand below with the crowd, her lady friends on their tails.

I hastily wipe the blood off with my sleeve when Bash, nor everyone around was looking as I pretend to walk shyly and slowly forward. I could hear the Queen's loud annoyed and bored groan.

I wasn't the only one standing in the midst again. Bash and his remaining men have stood by me.

"Father, three of our men were killed because of an Assassin." Bash explains immediately before his confidence could decrease.

Four because the brawny guard's body was still unfound, and I reckon it's stinking up my cottage now that I've left it there.

"We were ambushed." Bash continues. "And no one saw the suspect but I. In fact, I was almost killed by him. Gladly, I dodged before he could do so."

My jaw drops in realization that he's lying.

The King seems to be careless of his son's life despite he's always rolling his eyes every time he listens at our reports. I scowl at it, feeling pity over Sebastian again. Though I shouldn't. Even if he's only an illegitimate child of a Royal, I still need to hate him.
