Evangeline
For the whole night I didn't sleep. I only stared at the ceiling of grey and staleness while I'm holding the cup of tea Nostradamus had made for me. He also brought me a plate of pastries from the kitchen. I thanked him of course, he was too nice to take care of me.
Alexander mostly was the one who took care of me before all of this, before I showed him my feelings. He treated me like a sister, and he's been my best friend ever since I join the Assassins.
The last words he had spoken to me still linger around my head like a meteor.
"Feeling better yet, Evie?"
I get up after Nostradamus comes in unexpectedly.
"No, it is alright. You can lay down." I heeded on his permission and rest my head back to the pillow. "I am sorry to interrupt your rest but the King awaits for you."
"What're they gonna do to me?"
"They're just gonna ask you some questions. Need not be worry."

My bodyguard was different this time. The guards whom first saw me must have gone to rest after such a night of guarding the gates. As I walk down the halls with people heading to either the same direction I'm heading or to the opposite, I caught sight of the man gifted with such rare eyes again. He was inside the throne room, the same room I'll be interviewed in.
The guard stops at the door while I saunter forward, watching everybody in the room shuffle to their seats and position. On the upper deck is the throne of both the King and Queen. I wonder if the Queen would be beautiful, or at least have a beautiful personality.
I couldn't help but stare only at the gifted man while I stand alone in the middle of the room. Suddenly I had betrayed myself. I promised not to fall in love while on this mission and yet my heart seems to be pushing myself close.
Prince Francis stands beside him, with the Queen of Scotland, and secretly my childhood friend when I used to live with the nuns in their convent. She looks as beautiful as she was born to be.
I'm glad I had given her a false name. I'd be exposed if I didn't.
The trumpets sang in announce as the herald says aloud, silencing the crowd, "May I present, King Henry and Queen Katherine!"
My feet led me out of the way for the Majesties. The Queen turns out to be neither of my expectations. She looks like a potential villain. Don't even get me started with the King. He looks like a pedophile as he flashes me a weird grin. I don't know if it's just myself despising Royals but I'm beginning to hate these people.
I return to my position on the midst of the room after they had taken their seats on the throne room and after everyone had bowed down to them. "The interview for Lady Evangeline shall now begin."
"She does not have a title so do not call her a Lady." The Queen quickly throws a comment.
Lucky her, she's not a potential target. I'd kill her in her sleep if she was, but I guess her gender had saved her.
I scowl underneath my frown and sigh heavily. I hope I can endure the negativity here to avoid killing more than one person.
"Further adu." The King says. "Please introduce yourself, Evangeline."
"My name is Evangeline 'Evie' Kenway." I try to say in the most casual manner. "I am twenty years old. I am looking for a new place to call home, even if takes for me to work as a handmaiden."
"So you're looking for a job?" The Queen asks, boredom snaking around her words.
"Yes, ma'am- I-I mean Your Highness." The audience's murmurs maximizes, which force me to add, "apologies. My parents raised me strictly."
"Your parents are wise then." She says, still nonchalantly.
"Back to the topic." The king chimes in. "What was the color of the English soldiers whom attacked your town, Evie?"
Red or white? Shite, I've forgotten.
"I didn't see any symbols but I am sure they are Englishmen because of the language they were speaking."
"You said they were Assassins. How did they attacked?"
How would I attacked?
"They burned the houses and there was nothing left but ashes."
"Do you remember where your town is now that you are healthy?"
"Yes. Wholly, I now remember every step I took to arrive here."
"Good."
The Queen leans on her husband's ear, whispering something that makes it clear enough for me to eavesdrop on.
"What're you going to do with her?" The Queen asks, glancing suspiciously at me.
I try to look pitiful again.
"I'll send a few of our troops to check the town, see if what she's saying is true."
"She's obviously lying in my opinion. She just wants to get a job around her and probably wants to fornicate with men, like your whore Penelope always does."
"Shut up."
They both lean out and face me again.
"Evie, you will be convoyed with my men back to your town. You will be safe, for my son Sebastian will be the one to lead this task."
He glances over the crowd. When I follow his gaze, mine was quickly glued to the blue-eyed cutie who was already looking back at me.
My heart dropped when I felt his eyes glimmer over the sunlight seeping through the glass windows.
"This interview is adjourned. Everyone, you may now go back to whatever you were doing before this." The King announces lazily. "As for you Evie, get yourself prepared for tonight. Including you Bash, ready your men as well."
"Yes, Father."
Sebastian or Bash seems to look different from his brother and his parents. They don't look nor have the same features.
I hope he's an orphan they took in just like me. He'll be an exception if he is.
