Alexander

Mentor was right, the sleep darts were useful. Dropping Evie softly on the bed layered with animal furs, I open my palms and my left wrist blade comes out in a second. Time to kill this bastard.

"Where's Evie?" There's worry and anger mixed in one tone in his voice after I return to the living room without Evangeline.

"She shooed me away, told me to never come back."

"Oh." Was the only thing he spoke.

I remember Francis' favor and so I speak again, "Francis told me you need to come home before dark. There has been a commotion going on with your mad King."

"What about Evie?"

"What about her?" I humorlessly scoffed. "She's trained for survival. She can take care of herself." I begin to walk past him.

"You did something to her, didn't you?"

I stopped when our positions aligned. "I didn't do anything but talked to her."

A blade comes out from his wrist and before I knew it, he strikes it to me but luckily I manage to dodge. We begin to circle around in defensive positions.

"Why are you in love with her? She's your cousin."

"Half-cousin."

"Still incest."

"You cheeky bastard. It is forbidden to use the Assassin's blade." I try to change the topic.

"Shame on you. She actually gave this to me herself." He exposes shows the full picture of the wrist blade with pride.

"I promised your brother that you'll come home before dark, alive, but I guess bringing a dead body instead would do some little drama."

Offended by my taunt, he charges forward but I counter, our blades hissing as both metals collide with a frictional spark.

"Loving your cousin is inappropriate!" He roars with gritted teeth. "She's better off with me."

When I feel a weak spot on him, I muster every of my strength and was able to throw him to the other side of the room, pinning him against the concrete wall.

I knelt down in front of him and unsheathed my blade. "She was never yours to take. She belongs to me, and I rather see her as a stubborn Assassin than to see her fucking pregnant with your bloody children!"

Blood begins to stream down his nose.

I was about to end him, until Evangeline's own blade goes on my chest like a sword through the air. He pulls it deeper, reaching my trachea, until I felt cold steel touching my heart for the first time.

Falling to the ground in defeat, he doesn't unpin the blade yet.

I felt my whole world coming into an end through a blur and a throb as icy blue eyes stare back at my forest green ones.

It was like winter battling against nature. And I guess winter has won. It was winter season after all.

"Please." I grunt, trying to hide the pain but fail when a sob escapes.  "If you do love Evie, please keep her safe. All I ever wanted was to rid her of the world's cruelty. I thought she was better off with me rather than in the hands of a man who's a Royal's illegitimate child or a man... With nothing to support his future family but abuse, like what my Father did to me and my Mother once."

"She'll be okay." He responds dryly within a second.

Once again I glare at my killer, before finally accepting to rest in peace forever.
