Chapter 10

Taliyah

My whole world froze when I saw my sister , where has she been all those years. The tension built between us as everyone just stood there staring at one another lost in their own thought. Right now I didn't know whether to hug the life out of her or curse her out for leaving to fend for myself.

She slowly started to approach me scared of how I would react to seeing her and give me time to comprehend with what was going on. With trembling hands and watery eyes she embraced me... I stood still for a moment not sure if this is real. Adrian still stood by the door watching the scene unfold... looking directly in my eye he gave me a small smile and nodded his head indicating I should embrace her as well...

I wrapped my arms around her finally accepting the moment as tears came down like a river. This was real... Tanya was here .

" you came back" I sobbed  I thought you were dead!
" oh Taliyah I never... I swear to god I never planned on abandoning you pleases forgive me ... I searched everywhere for you and I finally found you.... it wasn't my fault " she hugged me tighter as if I wasn't real.

"Shhhh.. it's ok ... we will talk about that later right now it jus me and you." I reassured her.

Slowly we pulled apart .... and i examined her for a minute .... she was still beautiful as ever ... with her big hazel eyes that flowed through the tears and her nicely tanned skin and her beautiful rosey chicks that brought a smile to anyone's face.

" you guys can come in the kitchen ... I sure we can all use something to eat and drink to start of this day" Adrian said which made me move my gaze to him.

Agreeing Tanya and I headed to the kitchen and sat at the table while Adrian started breakfast... thank god for him he can be so calm in situations like this.

I started off the conversation with my sister looking for an ice breaker...

"Sooo... how are you?"

She gave a small chuckle before responding.... " I love that about you Taliyah... you could be in such a mess and still focus on the simple things ...as much as I would love to say how I am but I need you to understand what happened that separated us"

I nodded my head to tell her continue

"This was the worst day of my life and it has been replaying in my head for years and I can't forgive myself.... when mom and dad passed ... I had to take care of me and you so that they wouldn't separate us... so I started exotic dancing to bring in the money, I'm not ashamed I would do it a million times for us to just be together... we were good for a year and the money was coming in... but one night when I went the club owner saw that I was bringing his club a lot of money and decided he wanted to branch me into a his higher franchise in Long Island . He told me that it would be the same I would just be working in a different location and that they would pay for my transportation. So I took the offer. But when I went on the first day of the job they took me to this mansion and prevented me form leaving unless I had to go to the club to work. I tried to escape so many times to try see you but I failed. I so sorry Taliyah."

New tears started to form in her eyes and any anger I had against her faded... she was held hostage... my heart ached at hearing what my sister went through. I had to be strong for her though.

I placed my hands on top of hers "there is nothing to be sorry for Tanya it wasn't your fault... I understand what happened now .... and that only shows that you are a good sister for trying to look for me... thank you for never giving up" I said genuinely while wiping her tears.

She gave me a warm smile and nodded while Adrian came with two plates of food in his hand... the scrumptious smell of pancakes and bacon filled my noses d that lightened the mood. I digging as soon as I grabbed the fork savory the taste on my tongue.

Everyone ate in silence until something came in mind that I had of ask "Tanya"
"Hmmm she responded enjoying the meal."
" I know you were looking for me but why point a gun to Adrian." I asked curiously
Hearing my question both Adrian and Tanya choked.
Once she calmed down she responded..." Taliyah I know it looks wrong but I saw you enter last night with Adrian and you looked drunk and so I thought he was taking advantage of you so I came prepared to protect you?" she said but he last part came off as a question.

I didn't even study the last part as embarrassment was written all over my face.. I looked drunk?.... I thought I was sober when I entered his apartment... does this explain why I was half naked when I woke up..... omg did Adrian and I ...

Adrian touched my shoulder before I could think what next and responded very calmly
" nothing happened .... she just went to bed."
I released a breath I was holding but at the same time felt disappointed.... wait why was I disappointed.

" well I will be heading back to my apartment room 3." Tanya said as she raised to her feet.
" you live here?" I asked a bit shocked.
Chuckling she nodded at my surprise in amusement.... my sister has made herself better off from what happened to her and I am proud of her.
" do you have to leave so soon" I said in disappointment.
"Yes my boy will be up any minute now she said as she glanced at her watch .... and his father isn't there so he would be all alone.

Wait what? Boy... father?
Realization was evident on her face as she realized what she said.
"Tanya you....you have a son? Adrian took the plate in the kitchen quickly excusing himself as he saw what was going on.
Guilt was evident all over her face .... " Taliyah I... I know I should have told you but we just made up and I didn't want you to feel as though I neglected you and moved on with my life... you have to believe me... I didn't rest until I found you ... I never gave up"

" Tanya I understand that and I am very thankful but you cannot think so low of me to assume I would be angry that you have a family you should have told me" I said as my voice cracked .

" I'm sorry Taliyah please forgive me ... I promise I will bring him by this afternoon and we can pick up where we left off "she said through pleading eyes.

Sighing I nodded . . It makes no sense to fight now ... she is the only family I have.

Walking her out the door I gave her a small smile and told her that we will see this afternoon. Nodding we hug and she left.

Closing the door behind me I leaned against it and closed my eyes just taking what has happened this morning... it was a very long morning full of surprises.

" you know we have a long day ahead of us.. so come on get ready."

I opened my eyes as Adrian said that... what I thought today was relaxing especially after this morning.
