Chapter 4 Rose: Completed & Revised

Rose's POV

I asked the queen after Jason left if I had to wear a dress. She said I had to as the King and his son were joining us for dinner. I let the short blond maid pick out a dress for me. After we put it on we realized it was very suggestive. She quickly grabbed a thin black cloth jacket from the closet and helped me put it on as well as tying it up at the front so less of my boobs were showing. After we adjusted my clothes and put up my hair the maid whose name I learned to be Tracy took me to the dining room where everyone was already waiting. There was one empty seat, and it was beside the King's son and across from Jason.

"Please have a seat, Rose." The queen gestured to the empty seat.

"Thank you, Your Highness." I quickly sat down to make everyone stop looking at me, but the king kept staring at me. "Is there something wrong, Sir?" I asked him.
He shook his head. "No, no. It's just that dress." I could feel my face turn red, and my anger spike.

"Um..." My right hand started to burn to cause me to gasp in pain. I looked at it seeing a mark appear on the top of my hand. It looked like flames and a dragon head. Some of the flames were a faint blue like my veins while the others looked a light shade of red or orange I put it on the table and formed a fist hoping that Jason and the queen would know what was going on. "Jason? What is happening?"

"It is okay. |There is a dragon egg in the hall you walked through. I guess it is your dragon. We should go look at it." I nodded and both Jason and I stood. "This way. Sister comes with us." She stood as well and we walked into the hall where the dragons dark blue and black speckled egg was sitting on a cushion on a dark brown wood table.

"I can't believe I didn't see this." When we looked at the blue and black egg and we saw big and small cracks in it. I picked up the egg sat on the balls of my feet and put the egg on my lap. "It is okay. You are safe now." I started rocking the egg back and forth. "I'm here. You can hatch. It's safe." I whispered to the egg. The biggest crack had slowly gotten bigger and the egg split in half. A little slimy red, blue and black dragon lay eating the eggshell in my lap. After the dragon finished eating the shell I lifted the first layer of my dress and carried my little dragon to my room, wiping off the goo that covered her scales. I left my door open knowing everyone was going to come into my room anyway with all the commotion. I grabbed a little bucket and filled it a quarter of the way full with warm water. I heated it myself with my abilities as it was faster. I gently put the newborn dragon in the warm water. I ripped a piece of the dress I was wearing and used it to clean the dragon. The dragon nipped at my fingers. I giggled and felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Dragons are our hearts and souls. You must take care of her, Rose." Jason sat beside me. "This dragon is going to need heat when it sleeps till it is full-grown." I nodded causing me to feel dizzy again. The dragon licked my face and I started to feel better. "She is giving you strength. You should eat. I will have Tracy bring you something." Jason then got up and left. A few minutes later Tracy came in with a tray full of food. She placed it down in front of me as quiet as she could as not to wake my sleeping dragon. Not that she stayed asleep. She had woke after Tracy had left. My dragon crawled over to the edge of my lap and looked at the food with hunger. I picked up a small piece of meat and hung it in front of her. She sniffed it then bit it waiting for me to let it go. As soon as I let go of the meat and she started to gobble it down while she was eating I started to eat too. I jumped when I heard a knock on my door.

"Who is it?" I called trying to calm my racing heart.

"Jason."

"Come on in." I started feeding my little dragon again when Jason came in with a girl with cat eyes and ears.

"I'm Shikra. You have a tracker on you, Miss. I am here to take it off you." I nodded. Why didn't anyone tell me? Is it possible the eastern kingdom put it on me? Well, they would do that when I left the base to train with a few men so it's not really that far of a stretch.
