Rose's POV
I walked down the hallway to the southern king's chamber. There was a girl walking out of the room. I stopped her.
"Is the king in there?" I asked rather politely. She nodded before scampering away. I pushed open the door to his chamber.
"Ahh dear Rose, what brings you here?" His voice floated through the room with clear authority. I looked over towards where his voice came form and seen him under the blankets on his bed.
"I came to tell you that you have one day to get out of here or I'm going to rip your head off and feed it to my dragon." I spoke through my teeth. He laughed.
"Isn't it nice to see the weak dragon rider threaten me?" Anger rushed through my body, and I felt my body heat up immensely. The king looked over me.
"You're on fire." He said nonchalantly.
"No, really." My voice dripped with sarcasm and hatred. "Start packing or you will be the one on fire." I growled before leaving the room and walking outside towards the meeting that Fiona called. It took me awhile to actually make it to my seat beside Jason. I sat down and he asked me if I knew what this meeting was about and why the whole city was here.
"I have no idea." I whispered. Suddenly there were light by the stage were lit and you could see Fiona standing in the center. The lights were above and below her casting shadows across the stage and her face. She looked completely at ease- which was strange.
"There have been some rumors going around that I am marrying the southern king Derek. I am here to put them to rest." She paused. "I was going to marry him but I called off the engagement, as he was only here to try and tare our country apart. He has been put in the jail as of this morning after he failed to comply with orders. That would also be why I was delayed. The royal guard will be transferring him to his country with a letter I wrote about his misgivings and dirty deeds. His country will no longer see he fit to be king and his oldest son will take over while he is locked away or possibly killed for breaking the treaty my father signed along side his. I also have another announcement. Ryder come up here." After a great pause Ryder made it up the stage and stood beside the queen. "I have chosen to follow my heart and marry the one I love. Me and General Ryder will be getting married. I hope you will support this marriage." The crowd was silent before erupting into cheers. "Rose, Jason come here." Jason tapped my back. I looked over at him confused. He mouthed the word 'wings' at me. We stood opening our wings careful not to hit anyone before jumping into the air and flying to the stage. "It is customary for the queen to have the blessing of a dragon rider and her family. You are both my family, and are exceptional dragon riders. I ask for your blessing." Jason didn't hesitate to throw his arms around her and whispered something into her ear before turning to the crowd.
"You have my blessing, dear sister." I felt something. I don't know what it was but it was telling me that this marriage was a good thing. It was my turn to speak.
"As the Protector of this land I cannot allow the royals to marry anyone I know isn't worthy of this title. Today I am glad to say that I bless this marriage and the country this marriage will benefit." Something weird started to happen. Mine and Jason's and wings opened. I could hear the screams of the new dragon riders as their wings opened for the first time. I looked over and seen both the queen and her true love with wings. The glowed the same purple color. My head turned to see the whole town with dragon rider wings. They to glowed the same beautiful shade of purple. Everyone here were dragon riders. It was a beautifully amazing sight to behold. I could hear the cheers of the people along with their happy sobs.
"I welcome you new dragon riders. May you use your powers and gifts for good, and to help your country." My dragon flew down to the stage.
"This is unbelievable, Rose. You gave the city- no the country wings. They heard you. You awoken their spirits, along with their dragon's. This has never happened before."
"Is it a bad thing?"
"No, no it is good we will need them for the war."
"War?"
"Yes, the eastern kingdom is nearing our borders, with their own dragon riders."
