Chapter 9- Mia Addison Campbell

Chapter 9

Mia's POV

It's been two weeks since I last called Autumn. Today is my flight to London and I didn't inform her about it because I wanted it to be a surprise. I'm so excited to see her again. I'm sure she'll be surprised that I already arrived at the airport.

Now I'm at the car going to the airport. While I was looking outside, I saw a home shelter. Some kids were happy playing at the playground while some children are ready to be taken by their new family. And then, I remembered a past I have never wished to remember again.

***FLASHBACK***

My dad came home drunk at night. He went to the table to find some food to eat. But there is no more food prepared at the table.

"ANDREA! Where the hell is my food?" he shouted

"CARLOS! Language please? Addi is listening. I let her eat all the food because you came home late for dinner." My mom answered back.

My dad looked at me. I wanted to run but I can't. I wanted to hide but I can't. He headed towards my direction. He took his pocket knife and he is ready to attack me. The last thing that I saw before I closed my eyes was my mom running towards me shouting for help.

I opened my eyes, wondering what the silence is all about. Tears started to roll down my cheeks. I saw my mom lying down at the floor covered with blood. My dad kept his pocket knife. He was heading to the door when suddenly there is a policeman standing at our doorstep.

The policeman handcuffed my dad with the help of some other men. They took him out of the house and then they disappeared. Some women went inside the house. One of them went near me and told me something.

"Dear, I am so sorry but we need to leave your mom. The police will investigate her and you need to come with us."

"NO! I won't leave my mom! NO!" I shouted.

"I'm so sorry, but you need to come with us to the home shelter. You will be staying there until someone will adopt you. You don't have a choice."

They carried me away from my mom. I kept on trying to get away from them but I failed. I just kept on crying and crying until we left the place.

After a few years, I got adopted by a wealthy family. Everyone at the home shelter told me that I was lucky because even though I'm already old, I got adopted.

My name change from Addi to Mia Addison Campbell. I got to study in a well known school. I am very happy with my new family. I became their only child. They loved me as if I came from them.

Then I met Autumn. She became my best friend forever. She was always there to support me. I thought that if I told her about my past she will leave me. But she didn't and it was like she never heard it. I was happy that I am her friend.

"Ma'am Campbell, we have arrived at the airport." My driver said.

"Have I been spacing out? I'm so sorry." I apologized.

"Somehow you were in deep thought. As much as I would want to talk to you, you should get going. Have a safe trip Ms. Campbell. Enjoy!"

"Oh, yes, you're right. Thank you! I would just message you when will I be back. Be safe!" I said while he was giving me the trolley with my luggage.

There wasn't much of a hassle but my flight was somehow delayed. I didn't mind because I'm too excited to see my friend. Did she meet some hot guys? Oh, how I would love to talk to her about it! Is it just me but I'm going gaga here because of excitement!
