"I'm gonna go shower mum!" Tyler yelled, running into the house with his hockey stick and helmet in his arms.

"Ok hun, no running up the stairs!" I called out.

I locked the car and slung Tyler's duffel bag over my shoulder.

I had just gotten back from yet another one of my son's hockey games. Tyler did great, he always does. I love watching my only child at the moment engage in something he genuinely enjoys. What I didn't love however, was the look on his face when he would realise that his father had no intention to come watch him play.

"You would know if you were there! By the way, we won you asshole!"

I walked into the house just as Tyler ran up the stairs with tears running down his rosy cheeks. Harry stood in front of the couch, a scowl on his face.

"Our kid has no fucking manners anymore." He grumbled

I've never encouraged Tyler to curse or even be rude in general. But at this moment, he had every right to call Harry an asshole.

"My kid."

I rolled my eyes and walked in the direction of the stairs.

Poor Tyler's probably up there bawling his eyes out.

"Since when is he only yours?" He scoffed "It takes two to tango Y/N. "

"You don't deserve the title Harry. You don't even go to any of his games anymore and you're never around. What's going on?"

He's been burying himself in so much work at the office lately. He always leaves early in the morning and comes back late at night. If I didn't know better I'd say he was cheating on me.

"I'm trying to build a future for my family Y/N. That's what's going on."

"You won't have a family for much longer if you keep up with this shit!" I stated and realised how loud my voice had been getting and lowered my tone.

"Tyler needs you."

My heart broke when I saw him staring back at me with glossy eyes.

He dropped himself onto the couch with a defeated sigh. "D-Does he hate me?"

"Of course not." I took a seat beside him. "He just misses his dad."

I pulled him into a hug as soon as the first tear fell. He seemed to be genuinely torn by the whole thing and I immediately felt bad for yelling at him.
I could hear him softly crying on my shoulder. I felt terrible, but Tyler needs his father.

"I'm a bad father."

"No you're not. You just need to prioritize better and stop overworking yourself."

"I love you and I'm so sorry."

"Its ok, I love you too. Now get upstairs and apologise to our son. I want both of you down here smiling, by the time I'm done with dinner."
