We are almost at school and I feel nausiated about the fact that I would have to see Britney Stone. Every time we meet she always has something mean to say to me. It feels like every night she goes home and comes up with as many insults as she possibly can to say to me the next day. Because I'm an insecure kind of girl I never have the courage to say anything back which can be really frustrating! She is also popular which doesn't help because everyone backs her up. Well, that is everyone except my two best friends Zoe and Blake. They are like the siblings that I never had and they always have my back. I have known Zoe since before we could even speak and I met Blake in year 4. We have been best friends ever since.
"Here we are" my dad sighed as we pulled up infront of my school, Kimberly High School. It was big, had lots of students and the meanest principle EVER! I hopped out of the car and waved goodbye to my dad before slamming the door shut.
"This is going to be the best birthday ever!" I thought sarcastically to myself. I walked up the front steps and through the big doubles doors that connected the school to the outside world. As I walked through the door I see my history teacher, Mr. Berkens. "Shoot" I scold at myself, I had forgotten all about the project we had to do which was due today! I quickened my step and hid my face so that he wouldn't see me as I walked down the other side of the hall.
As I rounded the corner and went up the stairs to my locker I bumped into Britney,
"Watch where you are going" she growled staring me right in the eyes. It was like she was burning a hole right through my soul,
"S.. Ssor... Rry... Sorry" I stuttered as I scurried away to my locker. I quickly opened up the lock and opened the door. I had decorated my locker with lots of silly pictures of Zoe, Blake and I. As I was admiring the picture of my friends, Blake decides to sneak up behind me and scare the living day lights out of me! "Ah, don't do that!" I squealed as I jumped.
"Sorry I couldn't help myself" he smirked innocently.
"Yeah, yeah" I muttered as he brung me into a hug. "Is Zoe here yet?" I asked curious as to why she wasn't with him.
"She is somewhere, I don't know....." He trailed off muttering something I couldn't understand as he scratched the back of his head. This was a sign that he was hiding something. Whenever he tried to keep something secret or if he lied, he would get nervous and scratch his head.
"What are you hiding?" I asked him questioningly.
"Nothing, nothing" he squirmed trying to assure me,
"Sure I bet it's nothing"
"It is!" He whined.
"I give up I'm not going to bother trying to get it out of you. Anyway today is a very special day that is important." I said to him expecting him to yell happy birthday, but instead I get a different result,
"Why is it a special day?" He asks with a completely blank expression on his face,
" what do you mean why is it a special day?" I ask him astonished
" well there is nothing special about today it is just an ordinary Tuesday" he states confused. I can't believe it, one of my best friends in the whole wide world forgets my birthday! How could he? I know his off by heart and he doesn't remember mine? I had this feeling deep down in my heart of sadness and disappointment. How could he do this?
"Oh I forgot today isn't special to you at all" I grumbled under my breath as I shoved my bag into my locker and grabbed my books. Blake still had a blank look on his face until I slammed my locker door shut BANG it echoed as he slightly flinched. I turned my back on him as I walked away to my first class, I needed to see Zoe, she would never forget my birthday.
