Scorpius Malfoy

Scorpius woke up to yelling. It was his dad. He couldn't tell what was being said, but whatever it was, it was bad. He got up and walked out of his room. He realized it was coming from his dad's bedroom. He was terrified. In the year that his dad and Natasha had been married, they'd never fought, at least not seriously.

He heard Natasha yell. It scared him, a lot. He'd never heard her angry before. She sounded beyond pissed, and he was suddenly glad he couldn't understand the words. Regardless, he still found himself drifting closer and closer. "Fine," he heard Natasha yell.

"Fine!" he heard his father roar. There was a second of silence.

"Don't you dare... Draco Malfoy," she warned hotly. "Draco, I'm being serious," she said quieter. "No, please," she begged. There was a loud crack from apparation. Scorpius was frozen on the spot. He heard a loud thump and quiet crying. He assumed Natasha kicked or threw something before crying.

He didn't know what was going on and decided to just go outside. He went out and sat on the front step. He was relieved of thinking for too long by Albus's appearance. Scorpius was happy to see him and smiled slightly even though Albus looked mad.

"My dad's being an ass again." He sat down next to Scorpius. "Enough about me though, what happened?" Albus put his arm around Scorpius, whose insides tingled after nearly a month without Albus's touch.

"Natasha and Dad... they were fighting. I don't know what about, but they both seemed pretty mad. Dad apparated away, and I could hear Natasha crying. They've never even fought for more than two minutes before." He looked at the ground for a few minutes. Albus took Scorpius's hand in his free one.

They sat together, unsure of what to say. Scorpius thought maybe the best thing was to not say anything at all and just be there for each other. After a few minutes, they heard Natasha coming out. She looked miserable, but she was clearly trying to hide it.

"Albus, did you tell your parents where you are?" she asked warily.

"No," he admitted.

She sighed and pulled out her wand. She muttered the patronus charm, but nothing happened. She tried once more before abandoning the attempt. "I'll be back in a few minutes," she told them before apparating away. She was gone for barely a minute before appearing again.

Her whole being seemed to reflect the age of 42 hundreds of times more than it had the previous night. She sat next to the boys and stared at the ground looking forlorn. Scorpius couldn't make himself bring up the fight.

As Scorpius started wondering what to do, he heard another pop. His father stood in front of them, looking devastated. He sat next to Natasha and put his arm over Natasha, a mirror of Albus and Scorpius. His dad whispered to Natasha. She leaned her head into him. Tears leaked out of her eyes, but she put a hand over his knee and gripped it.

Scorpius knew it would all be okay with them and with him and Albus. He knew love would get him through this crazy thing called life.
