"And take out the gun out of your holster!" The chief demanded immediately.
"Alright, here." Jake frowned, he didn't want to cause trouble anyways. He passed the gun to the chief. Emma and Josh decided to take a few steps back.
"What the hell you guys doing." The chief questioned them folding his arms.
After that Jake told everything he knew about the woods, including the military base, the monster and the strange things he had seen trying to find Thomas.
"Why would you think that?"
"I saw it with own eyes, I think there is a monster that had been kidnapping the kids this past months." Jake replied.
"My god, actually, i don't think i'm gonna arrest you guys, I actually want to solve this case, but if the monster is not real, you guys are coming with me." The chief said, The chief started cooperating because he had seen strange things in the searches, the chief was certainly curious. The chief didn't really believe that there is a monster lurking in the woods, but the chief just wanted to see what will happen. The sun was already starting to set, and the woods started to get even darker, everyone felt some sort of impending doom coming from the woods.
"Why you guys coming at night?" The chief asked as he looked up at the setting sun.
"I think this monster appears every night to look for its prey." Jake replied.
"Interesting, most of the cases of the missing children was reported that they were last seen at night, in the woods."
Josh gulped and shivered a little bit, Emma was just listening to the conversation biting her nails. There is no passage to enter the forest so climbing the mesh fence was the only option, climbing the fence was quick and easy for the chief, James and Emma, Josh on the other hand sucked at climbing and had to take several tries to climb the fence.
The four of them took a deep breath and walked slowly into the woods with their flash lights on and the chief holding a gun in his right hand and Jake's gun in his holster. Although Jake felt more comfortable with his gun it was just the best choice to give it to the chief. The woods was getting darker and darker, the trees covered the view of the night sky and it was nearly pitch black.
"Jake, I don't think the monster is real, come on, you're just stressed out." Emma whispered,
"No, i saw it with my own eyes, it is real." Jake replied softly.
15 minutes felt like hours, Jake wiped his sweat off his face and proceeded to stay alert. They've reached what felt like the deepest part of the woods, they could barely see anything without their flash lights. There was suddenly heavy breathing.
"Josh, stop it." Emma said,
"No, no, thats not Josh." Jake whispered softly
"Then what is it?" Chief asked,
"The monster..."
The chief immediately drew out his gun and pointed. "Its coming any second." Jake said. Out of nowhere the monster sprinted just like a cheetah towards them in supersonic speed. "Shoot it!" Jake shouted, Josh jumped a little, and Emma let out a short scream. BANG BANG BANG! "Sh#t!" the chief fired 3 shots but he missed, BANG. He shot the monster in the leg and it fell and tumbled to the ground. Just as they were about to calm down, the monster stood up again just as if it had fully recovered its leg and dashed towards them.
BANG, BANG! the chief fired his remaining bullets hopelessly, the monster jumped and tackled the chief to the ground. The monster opened its mouth which was almost the size of the chief's head, drooling all over him. The chief tried to push the monster away from his head but he was not strong enough. Just as the monster was going to bite the chief's head off, Jake took a huge rock and ferociously smashed it onto the monster's head with all his might.
