Georgie, Anna and I stand waiting at the front of the school waiting for our dates to arrive. Thomas and I were going together obviously, Georgie and Luke were going together and Anna had been asked out this very day by a boy named Max. Max was a sweet boy with his brown eyes and hair.
We stood there for a little while before Luke and Max walked up behind us. "G'day, fancy seeing you here." Max grinned.
"Should we go inside the hall now?" Luke asks. Georgie looks at me.
"You go, I'll wait here." I say. The truth was, I really needed some alone time. I hadn't had much of it in a while. I sit down on the bench that was placed next to me and fuss over my dress. Georgie had picked a pick dress while Anna chose a purple, shorter knee length one.
My dress was a beautiful yellow with a pretty white lace on the bottom of the dress. I came up to just above my knees. I thought it was quite funny though, me wearing a dress. "That's not a sight you see very often." I giggle to myself.
At that moment I heard a twig on the ground snap. It made me jump with fright as a dark shadow approached from the darkness and into my view. "Thomas!" I exclaim. "You scared me half to death!"
"I can be a bit scary sometimes can't I?" He joked. I wrap my arms around him in a hug. "I'm so happy you came." I say.
"Same." He says.
We walk hand in hand to the hall where it had been transformed into a winter wonderland which was the theme. "So, this is your school? It's not as bad as you say." He tells me.
"Well, you know me. I exaggerate A LOT!" I giggle.
"Hi Thomas." A voice calls from behind us. "Hi Georgie." He says.
I stiffen up. Luke was holding Georgie's hand and he looked Thomas in the eye. "You must be Luke." Thomas says. Georgie and I look anxiously at each other.
"Yeah. You must be Thomas." Luke says.
"Yeah." Thomas says. "Am I able to speak to you in private for a minute?"
"Ok." Luke says. I was hesitant as Thomas walked off with Luke as I let go of his hand. "Don't worry." He told me. And then he walked off.
"DON'T WORRY!!!" But that's exactly what I'm doing, say to myself. I was so lost in my own world thinking about the dangers ahead of me that I nearly dropped dead with shock when Anna came up behind me.
"What's wrong with you two?" She asked, referring to Georgie and I. "Thomas has gone outside to talk to Luke!" I exclaim.
"Oh no! It's the end of the world." She says sarcastically. "Look, I don't know Thomas but I don't think he would harm Luke. If he does I'll hurt him." She says.
"You know, I think Anna is right. Maybe we are going a bit over the top." Georgie says.
"Maybe." I say. But I'm not taking any chances." I try to run but my dress was tripping me up. "Ahh, this is why I don't wear dresses!" I mutter under my breath.
I was about to open the door but someone on the other side was already at it. It hit me in the head. "Ahh!" I exclaim. The pain was splintering as the blood dripped down... At least that's what your supposed to feel when your head is bleeding badly. But I didn't feel anything excepted shocked as I sat on the ground holding my forehead.
"Stacey!" A voice yelled at me. It was the person who opened the door into my head. Thomas.
"Hi." I say. Anna, Georgie and Luke run over to me. The room has gone silent as the students all look at me.
"Oh my gosh Stacey! I'm sooooo sorry!" He keeps saying. He looks at everyone.
"I'll get a rag or something for the blood." Says Anna.
"And I'll get a adult or someone." Says Georgie. They both run off in different directions."Well that was a disaster." I say to Thomas as we sit on the couch together and watch terrible tv shows.
"You could say that." He says back laughing. "You need to rest."
"But I don't feel tired or anything." I say. "Hey, how cool would it be if like I got smarter by knocking my head. That would be really cool."
Thomas laughs. "Do you want to..." He didn't get to finish because a high pitch whine coming from outside pierced the through the night. "Was that..." Thomas starts.
"A horse? Yeah." I get up and start to run out to the paddock. "Stacey you not supposed to be running!" Thomas called out. I didn't listen though. I knew who the call belonged to and I worried. I reach the paddock and open the gate and run through. I make a clucking noise with my mouth and I heard the same horse as before call out. The sound this horse was making was as if it was in lots of pain. Could it be a broken bone, or colic, or... no no no, you have to stay positive surely there is another reason.
I run to the back of the paddock in the dark unable to see where I'm going, using the moonlight to guide me. I finally see what I have been trying to find. A horse. But this horse wasn't standing. It was laying on the ground in shock. I walk closer keeping my distance. I didn't want to be kicked or anything. I see the horse's elegant dished Arab face as Thomas reaches my side with a torch shinning on the horse. There was no doubt. It was Hero.Authors note:
So, that was the last chapter of the book. Sorry to leave you on a cliff hanger but I just really wanted to. My next book in the series will be coming out after I finish writing my other book called 'The Wild Ones'.
I really hope you liked this book. It means so much to me that people actually like my books when they vote and comment.
Thank you so much,
