There was the second of doubt when we went in mid air. Were we going  to make it?
We landed heavily on the other side with a thud and we galloped on. This time though, I wasn't scared. I was free. The wind in my face stinging my eyes like a bee.

"Ok boy, let's head back now." I tell Hero. He is quivering all over from pure excitement. By the time we had reached the part of the fence we had just jumped, Hero, who had just calmed down perked up again at the sight of it. "Not now boy." I tell him.

We walk down the side of the fence until we reach the gate that would lead us back into the paddock. I see Phill running over to us. "Are you ok?" He asks.

"I'm fine. That was amazing though! I got to gallop and we jumped the paddock fence and it's a meter fifty high." I exclaim.

"What?!  You jumped the fence. You haven't even had a jumping lesson yet so I have no clue into how you stayed on." Phill says surprised.

"I know. It was so cool!" I say.

"I think Hero is finished for the day then. He must be tired from that mad gallop of his." Phill says. As if to prove this, Hero gave a dramatic snort and stamped his hoof into the ground impatiently.

I jumped out of the saddle and nearly fell to the ground but Phill caught me and then stands me back up. "My legs feel like jelly." I giggle.

"I'm not surprised." He says.

By the time it was dinner, I was so dirty. I had groomed 7 horses in total: Chico, Cricket, Agrippine, Willow, SoloNight and Hero. I had also mucked out each of their stalls as well.

Aunty Amy scolded me as I walked into the house with my boots on. "Stacey! Go get yourself cleaned up and take off your boots please!" She said.

After freshening up I take a seat at the table. When Thomas came into the room he had no choice but to sit down next to me. "G'day." He said gruffly.

I replied with a quiet, "Hello." The table was silent for a while as we ate until Aunty Amy spoke. "So Stacey, how's school?"

"The horse riding is good but school sucks." I say.

"How are you going with making friends?" She asks.

"Well, umm... I have a question first." I say.

"What is it?" She asks.

"How is it possible for your only four friends all start to hate you in the same week?" I ask pointing this question at Thomas.

"I give up Stacey! You're just so impossible!" Thomas yells at me and leaves the table. I groan and go after him. I see him limping his way to the stable. "Just go away Stacey. You don't need me." He yells. I lean against the wall on my back and bend my knees so that I'm sliding down it until I'm sitting on the ground with my knees to my chest.

Thomas is in the same position as me and is sitting about a meter away from me. I begin to cry. The tears streaming down my face forming a wet spot on my shirt as they fall. I can't believe I'm crying infront of Thomas.

"You know I know about Luke." He says.

"I know that's why you hate me even more and you've been angry and grumpy at me because I have more friends. Well at least I use to." I say.

"I'm not grumpy and angry at you. You do realize that don't you." He says.

"Yes you are." I say.

"I'm grumpy and angry at myself. I was being silly and over the top when you told me about your new friends. I guess it had just been hard having no one around and not being able to do much. I shouldn't have taken it out on you." He says.

"Thomas?" I say.

"Yeah Stacey?" He says.

"I really do need you and I'm sorry that I..." I didn't get to finish because Thomas had leaned so close to me that I could feel his breathe on my cheeks. Electricity ran through me as our lips touched and we were kissing.
