I felt confidence come over myself as I stared at Lola waiting for her to say something.

My back straightened as I looked at her.

"I didn't know you had company, Justin." Lola says, almost as if she's hinting at Justin that she's not happy about it.

"We work together Lola, I'm not his company or his hang out buddie." I say bluntly as I look at her in the eye.

She was jealous and I was living for it.

" I know, anyways shouldn't you be downstairs watching the front desk lady or something?" She says.

The audacity.

I want to let out a laugh but I hold it in. Did she really think she was something telling me what to do in this building?

" Lola she owns the goddamn place, she can be anywhere she pleases." Justin says as he stares at her putting his hands in his pocket. He lets out a breath as he soon realizes his words were a little harsh.

She huffs.

By the looks of it, I'm pretty sure she forgot I don't work here, and that I own this motherfucker.

Justin goes close to her reassuring her of whatever the fuck they called their somewhat relationship.

Lola looked as if she calmed down and turned back to her normally pale skin.

"Hey, Angelina! Jenna sent me pictures of the dress she's going to wear at the second engagement party! You know the one... in a couple of weeks!!!!" She speaks her mood automatically changing.

Justin's arm wrapped around her body giving her the confidence she once held and reassuring her that I was nothing to be worried or concerned about.

"That's great, but I need to get back to work." I say as I step aside.

Lola grabs my arm as she pulls me back.

"Oh just look at the picture, will ya?" she says as I stand next to Justin.

I lean in to see the dress. It was beautiful. It screamed rich in every language.

The colors on the dress complimented the background she was in. The dress was practically a wedding dress. However, in her case, it's  an engagement party dress.

It probably cost more than my life.

The diamonds on the belt around her waist were shinning as the camera caught them at the perfect moment.

The dark rose color made her tan skin shine as it tightly pressed against her shoulders.

The lighting giving her complexion the best smooth look. The satin fabric hugged her waist as it gave off a smooth silky touch.

"It's truly beautiful." I say as I stay staring at the picture.

Lola mutters a small "yeah".

" It's very beautiful. " Justin mumbles slowly, but his face not turned towards the picture but to the side of my face as his eyes burn holes.

" Okay, I'm going now." I say as I make my way out the door towards the elevator.

Jenna and Owen's second engagement would be soon. I debated whether I should go or not.

A second engagement party?  It was truly useless.

Jenna was more of the Barbie doll in our friendship. Lola and I were much closer when we were growing up.

Jenna was always the one who dreamt of rich boys and a big house with a big wedding.

Me and Lola loved to keep everything simple and low-key. We loved playing in the rain, getting dirty.

We loved to get messy and do things that were meant for "boys", as our parents would scold us and tell us about.

It wasn't after a couple of years til Lola started growing and becoming mature. She hung out more with Jenna.

She wanted to be just like her. Lola hoped to also find her rich husband one day.

She gave up her real dreams to abide by what her parents and family want her to do.

She left me behind, but I caught up with her.

She wouldn't change back into her old self. I gave up, thinking that maybe she was going to be just another Jenna.

Jenna was 3 years older and she thought she was the wisest because of it.

I strolled out the elevator to the lobby as I made my way into the office, closing it shut. I
run my hands through my hair, my fingers coming in contact with tangles.

My lips turn into a straight line as I busy myself.

Not in work but in thought.

I couldn't bear to go see father at a time where he doesn't want me there.

More voicemails were left, he never picked up.

I decided for the best that I don't head there to visit him.

It would at least give him some relief. His daughter won't come see him, he's probably going to be happy about it.

I don't bother calling him again or leaving a voicemail to say I won't be coming. He'll figure it once he sees my absence.

Father takes many things for granted. Taking my love for granted was one of them.

I sigh as I sit up and try hard enough to at least focus on the work I have that lays in front of me.

Slipping out my thoughts when I saw my phone vibrate, a notification showed itself on my phone as a text appeared from Lola.

Lola: Hey! Jenna said to make sure you have a date! Okay? We also have to go shopping !!! I need to pick out an outfit that I can match with Justin.

Angelina: Match with Justin?

Lola: Yeah silly! He asked me if he could do the honor of being my date to the engagement party! I turned red like an apple.

I take my phone and set it down on the desk. Justin would be going.

With Lola of course.

I rubbed my eyes as I made sure to not think of Justin going.

I couldn't help myself.

My heart beat faster at the thought of him going.

He was going with Lola, get over yourself.

Not that them going together bothered me. It didn't. At all. Jenna said we needed dates, so it's only right that I do as she asked.
