I have no idea why I did it. I just started, and my hand just took over. I still have no idea what we were supposed to draw in that class. I saw some of the other students sketching some plants. Maybe we were supposed to draw our favorite flower. It's now too late to tell me. I can't change what I'm drawing now. I smile just thinking about what I drew on the paper. I glance around the parking lot, looking for Gregg's car. I see someone waving at me in the distance. I smile when I recognize him and walk towards where he parked.

"You're 10 minutes late." He said as soon as I reached the car and climbed in.

"Sorry. I needed to search for your car. Why are you parked so far away?" I said while buckling myself in. He didn't answer my first question.

"You will never guess who I saw in my art class." He said nothing as he switched the car on and pulled out of the parking lot. I decide to continue.

"That girl I saw in your apartment the other day, Angie." I looked over at him, trying to see his reaction, but his eyes focused on the road. He was silent.

"Why are you so quiet? You haven't said anything." I ask him.

"I just received a call from my mom moments before you came. My mom landed a lead role in a short film and insists I go with." He started.

"That's great!" I looked at him, confused, as I saw his facial expression was not as excited as he should be when something like this.

"Why don't you look so excited? Where are they filming this time around?" I asked.

"Mauritius." He answered.

"What! You're not serious. It's like heaven on earth, all in one place." I said, my voice more excited than it should probably be.

"You seem to like that place. Why don't you go and I'll stay here with your parents."

"That's not how it works, Gregg. Your mother wants you to go with her. I can't possibly take your place." I state to him. He's quiet again.

"Why don't you come and tag along. Then at least, I'll have some company." He suggested, his face suddenly sparking joy. I looked at him and could not believe what my ears had just heard. Why on earth would he offer that? I don't even know what to say. Well, I wouldn't say no.

"When are we leaving?" I said, turning in his direction.

"In two hours. You better get your things," Gregg said as he turned into the driveway at my house. I just looked at him for a second, processing his words. It took me a moment to realize what he had just said.

I hurriedly opened the car door and ran into the house. I grabbed the first big suitcase I could find in my cupboard and started to throw in clothes from my closet. I have no idea what I am even packing in. I am just throwing in all my clothes I think would be cute to wear at the beach. Before I knew it, the suitcase was almost overflowing. I packed in the last little things and successfully closed the bag. I locate a smaller tote bag for hand luggage and shove my sketchbook in the big opening along with some odds and ends to take the plane with me.

"Are you almost done?" Gregg asked as he stood at my bedroom door. I looked at him and nodded. He walked in and grabbed my suitcase, and carried it downstairs.

"Does my mother know I'm leaving with you guys?" I asked, uncertain. I was unsure if someone even asked her and if I was just leaving without anyone knowing.

"Yes. My mom called earlier and informed her about everything," he answered.

"And she was fine with me leaving school for this?" I asked.

"I said we were going to work on our science project while we were there." He looked back over his shoulder and gave me a small smile. I closed the front door and headed towards his car to begin a journey I would probably never have again.
