Fight Like A Girl

CHAPTER THREE

Brooklyn, New York. 2012- Three Days Before Avengers Assemble.

"This is so good!" Steve gushed with a mouth full of food, Tayla giggled at the giant of a man who was chowing down on the completely full plate of food she had placed down in front of him.

A lot had happened within the last month, Tayla had spent every waking moment with Steve by her side, she introduced him into all the odds and ends of the new world and had helped him adjust rather quickly surprising not just Director Fury but Tayla as well. She had caught Steve up on all the history he had missed and had made a list of all the things she had to make sure he got caught up on pop-culture wise, he was like a kid in the candy shop when it came to movies, art, and music. Somethings he was not a fan of nor would he ever be a fan of but he was basically versed in the minimum of even those things so he would know what was what. She cooked for him three times a day and he couldn't get enough!

Her cooking was his favorite food no matter what she cooked. He did enjoy some new junk foods such as Skittles and poptarts and some energy drinks in a black and green can he always saw Tayla drink as well as iced coffee but he didn't think he could live without her cooking. No matter the dish he would pig out like a starving man but he adored her homemade chicken marinara spaghetti and garlic bread which is what he was  currently feasting on. She made a massive pot of it and it was already half way gone, she had her own large plate but Steve had eaten four to her one and was still eating.

"Thank you darling but honestly slow down silly! It's not going anywhere!" Tayla playfully scolded him making him smile a small bashful smile as she wiped his mouth in a way reminding him of his mother.

He loved when she said the term darling, her accent popped out unexpectedly and made him feel warm. Not in a romantic way but a family kinda way, it reminded him of the feeling of home and being warm which he seemed to constantly hang on to nowadays, he still couldn't place the peak of the accent that popped up every now and again and he hadn't asked because he didn't wanna dig too deep.

He came to learn a lot about Tayla Kane in the last month. Come to find out she was the Granddaughter of one of his Howling Commandos, Timothy 'Dum Dum' Dugan. Steve could say without a doubt Tayla inherited a lot from her grandfather personality wise, she would crack a joke, give it as good as she got, she was determined and fierce when the need arose and she was a natural care giver of those around her. He could also say without a doubt Tayla inherited her Grandfather's warm grin that would leave you smiling back for no reason except her happiness made you happy.

"Sorry." He playfully mumbled before going back to eating, much slower this time.

She chuckled and went back to her own meal. Steve had learned that Tayla was extremely intelligent and a fierce fighter and leader, she oozed a natural and calming authority that she never took advantage of and was always ready to step up to the plate to help anyone at any time. She held not two but four bachelor degrees, one in History, one in Liberal Arts, one in Politics and Government, and one in World Culture. She was also a fully trained Civilian Paramedic and Army Combat Medic as well as a former Army Special Forces Soldier who lead her own special ops team doing top secret Black ops missions with government agencies such as the CIA and SHIELD and even several with no names.

Tayla Kane was a force to be reckoned with and Steve was just uncovering the top of the ice berg of who she was as a person and as a fighter and he was looking forward to learning more about the woman who to him, was now apart of his family.

Regardless of what came to pass in the future.

A phone beeping caught Tayla's attention before getting up from the table in her comfy apartment in Brooklyn and grabbed the burner cell phone on the counter, Steve didn't see the message but he watched Tayla's entire being tense and coil in on it's self like a predator readying to strike it's prey.
