Ashland, Virginia - Midway Point from Virginia and Washington D.C- 2014. Three Days Later.

The steady click of the gas pump distributing down from the timer system into the truck they were now riding around in was all that Tayla could focus on at the moment.

Three days. It had been three days since they had discovered Zachery and his family murdered. Three days since Tayla blew up their house. Three days since Bucky had found them thanks to Zach's help fixing his mind.

Three days of driving around and switching vehicles.

Three days of Tayla not sleeping.

Three days of Bucky not talking.

Three days of Steve being a mother hen.

Three days of Tayla plotting.

Steve had suggested they go back to Washington and find Sam who Steve was almost positive would help them out which was why they stopped at the halfway mark to fill up on gas and get snacks. Tayla's disguise was a little more thought out then Steve and Bucky's baseball caps and sunglasses, the night of them learning of the Everette Family's deaths Tayla went to a drug store and bought a few things.

Hair dye, hair straightener, hair products and decent makeup.

The morning after when Steve and Bucky woke up they didn't dare to make a comment about Tayla's pin straight macho brown hair or how her face was now perfectly contoured to the point they did do a double take not actually seeing her as her for a moment but a stranger.

She huffed a breath as she flicked the nuzzle and put the pump back before turning around just as Steve came out of the store with a bag in hand he gave her his signature bitch face for pumping the gas after he strictly told her he would do it, his familiar expression of exasperation almost made her smile. Almost.

"I told you I was gonna do that." He lightly scolded her, he may have been in this new day and age but he was still all about being a gentleman and offering to do just about everything for Tayla.

She found it enduring. She was stubbornly independent though, she let him do some things but he knew better to then to push. She knew his actions the  last few days of extra attentiveness and fusing was about making sure she was ok, she was grieving and Steve understood that better then any one would.

"I got it I couldn't keep sitting down and sitting still at that." She shook her head "Sam expecting us?"

"I didn't wanna risk it." Steve replied causing Tayla to nod in understanding as they both got back into the Silverado.

As the doors shut they paused, frantic mumbling was coming from the back seat making them turn around and notice Bucky was still asleep but was obviously having a nightmare.

Steve frown as he leaned back over the counsel so he would be closer as he called to his friend "Bucky." After a few attempts this didn't seem to work if anything it made Bucky more frantic.

"James Buchanan Barnes!" Tayla scolded his sleeping form "You will calm down right this instant I will not have you freaking the shit out in your sleep and going full Super Soldier badass in my truck and fucking breaking a window or Steve's jaw or my face, got it?"

Bucky settled almost instantly turning the other direction snuggling into the back seat a mumbled 'yes ma'am' falling from his lips in a thick Russian accent. Steve stared wide eyed back and forth between the two as Tayla started the truck and began to drive.

"I have no idea how you do that." Steve stated "I've never seen Buck react to a woman so instantly in my life except his mother and that woman didn't take junk from anyone."
