She had died.

It wasn't the first time she had pushed her body further then it was able to go resulting in her death. She had completely and biologically died three times in her entire life.

The First, was during her military days. In her Infantry days she was just another soldier going through a desert terrain looking for any enemy targets that had been missed from a previous pass through of the area when the youngest member, a young man whose name she remembered as Hugh Michaels wasnt even 19 yet and had up and joined the military straight out of high school. She remembered he had been joking around trying to cheer everyone up when he had stepped on a IED. A millisecond in time was all there was to react, she could remember the look of shock so clear upon his face.
Fear hidden in his eyes. She hadn't thought she had only reacted, some how she had managed to push him sending him soaring into the air just as the IED exploded. She was pronounced dead and taken back to base camp, she woke up three hours later.

The Second, a SHIELD mission to retrieve artifacts that could hold dangerous consequences beyond their comprehension. Tayla was helping Maria gather everything up and stored away properly when a young rookie Agent had wondered too far and stepped on some type of rock that seemed to activate a shower of thick steaming hot purple goo that came showering down. Tayla pushed the rookie out of the way taking the shower in the alien substance that mutated her mutation further and unlocked other enhancements. She died after a hour of extreme overheating and pain rattling through her body. She awoke three hours later alive and well with no damage what so ever but no extent could be proven how far the foreign substance had changed her entirely.

And the Third and final time was here and now. A knife to the belly that had been coated in poison.

What a fucking way to go.

Tayla Kane was a facade, an identity that was not her own. She didn't know who she was supposed to be any more.

Was she Tayla Kane the Agent of SHIELD who had joined something beyond her to help those who couldn't help themselves and to protect the world from greater dangers then they could comprehend existed?

Was she Margaret Stephanie Dugan the Army Colonel who had joined the Army as a way to get herself closer to the life her Grandfather had once lived a world he told her so much about as a child, a world of heros and wars fought for causes that most time didn't ever even make sense but were fought to protect their siblings in arms from wars created by hatred and greed and stupidity?

Or was she a nameless fool who had powers that even she didn't fully understand trying to find some way to hopelessly save lives all over the world? Someone who was as hopeless as the fight she was fighting trying to figure a way to win. She didn't know who she was.

She didn't know who she was.

"There it is. The answer you've been trying so hard to find." A soft voice called sweetly to her, the voice female and reminded Tayla of the kind of voice only a true mother could possess.

Turning around in the shadowy abyss she found a breath taking woman standing a bit away from her dressed in clothes fit for royalty. Her hair was half up and half down decorated with jewels and braids, the color of her hair was wheat blonde and curly while her face beautifully tan and youthful even for a woman appearing to be maybe in her early forties. Her smile was warm and lively and made her glow with a golden light that twinkled around the edges of her form.

"I've heard so much about you from my sons they both speak very highly of you." The woman softly spoke walking closer to stand before Tayla.

Tayla looked over the woman for a moment before she bowed her head in a respectful nod "You must be Loki and Thor's mother."
