Chapter 30 - Z Class

POV Sienna

Time: 8:30 PM (Saturday)

Walang kaming kibuan sa harap ng dining table. Di ko alam kung dahil sa pagod, sa gutom o dahil may zombie apocalypse na nagaganap.

"Napag-usapan nga pala namin ni JC na dito na lang sa living room matulog. Girls, kung gusto niyo sa guestroom, feel free to shout kung may makita kayong zombie," basag ni Kio sa katahimikan.

"We can stay here too. Di ba Sienna?" tanong ni Sav sa akin.

I just nodded at her in agreement. Sabagay, hindi ko rin naman kaya matulog sa kwarto na mag-isa knowing na may zombies sa labas.

"Hindi ba pwede tayo mag stay dito kaysa pumunta pa sa city bukas? Mukha naman secured ang bahay ni Che?" tanong ni Sav.

"Di ba nga may mass sterilization daw after 48 hours? Hindi ka ba nakikinig? Balak ata ng military na mag drop ng bomb sa city kaya pinapa evacuate na ang lahat. Baka madamay tayo," sagot ni Jordan.

"Actually, they have cancelled that. Baka daw kasi may madamay na mga survivors. I checked the updates from the government and military websites, they changed their minds and already advised us to stay indoors for the time being. I was also able to get in touch with a friend from the military an hour ago, he confirmed that everyone should stay inside," sabi ni Kio.

Friend from the military? Yung totoo, Kio? Friend nga lang ba yan or more than friend?

"What happened? Sabi ni daddy di ba pinapa evacuate lahat sa Aquinas Island?" tanong ni Jordan.

"With just few hours of research, they made a breakthrough. It seems like the first people who were infected drastically weakens after the first few hours and they have reported that some walkers are now dead. Apparently, they want the people to wait for few more days to see if these zombies will die eventually," dagdag ni Kio.

"That is a good news. This zombie motherfucking apocalypse will soon end and we can have our lives back!" masayang sabi ni Jordan.

"But there is a bad news..." malungkot na sabi ni Kio.

Lahat ay nakatingin sa kanya at inaabangan kung anong sasabihin niya. Ang katapusan ng isang zombie apocalypse ay isang magandang balita. Kung ano man na bad news ang sasabihin ni Kio, it must be frightening.

"Some walkers developed some sort of enhanced capability. Mas mabilis, mas malakas and some even exhibit intelligence. They are now called Z Class zombies. They are rare but one Z Class can easily defeat five military personnel."

"Zombies ba talaga sila or baka naman buhay na tao pa rin?" tanong ko kay Kio.

"This is a classified information that was just relayed to me by my friend. They think that these Z Class Zombies are already dead, but somehow, the effect of the virus enhanced them. The researchers are hoping that their so-called enhanced skills will diminish over time."

Lahat kami ay nalungkot sa sinabi ni Kio. It only means that there is a bigger threat out there. Wala kaming laban sa mga Z Class Zombies na ito.

Gabi na pero wala pa rin natutulog sa aming lima. Si Kio, nakaharap sa laptop, kausap ang kanyang military contact sa Aquinas Island. Samantalang kami ay nanunuod ng mga balita kung gaano kalawak ang abot ng Z Virus.

"Che, ilang araw tatagal ang supplies mo?" tanong ni Jordan habang binabago na naman ang channel sa TV.

"Kung lima tayo, we can manage up to two weeks. Walang problema sa water source at sa rice. If I will consider the canned goods, matatagalan din. Why are you asking?"

"Hindi tumatawag si daddy, baka may problema sa Aquinas Island. Kio, ano sabi nung friend mo?"

"Di na siya online. Last message niya is a few minutes ago, may emergency daw sa Aquinas Island."

"Friend ba yan o special friend Kio?" biro ni Jordan sa kanya. 

Kanina pa siya inaasar ni Jordan at mukhang nakakatunog na si mokong na may girly side si Kio. Knowing Jordan, di siya tatantanan ng lalaking ito. Kahit hearthrob, number one mang-aasar si Jordan sa mga kababaihan.

Kilala ko din ang sinasabi na contact ni Kio sa Aquinas Island. Alam ko na may special friend siya sa military and they have already dated a few times.

"JC, wag mo ko gawan ng showbiz chismis ah? Friend ko ito sa online gaming. IT Tech siya sa Aquinas Island," defend ni Kio na parang nararattle dahil inaasar siya ni Jordan.

Obvious ka bakla! Wag ka masyado mag blushed! Mahahalata ka ni Jordan!

"Eh bakit namumula ka na parang hinog na kamatis? Umiibig na ata si Kio oh!" pang-aasar ni Jordan habang kinikiliti ang tagiliran ni Kio.

"Tigilan mo ko, JC ah? Che, ok lang ba na dito muna kami mag stay?"

"Walang problema sa akin. Welcome kayong lahat dito except for Sienna. Sa kwarto ko lang siya welcome," mapang-asar na sabi ni Herschel.

Inirapan ko lang siya at hindi na pinatulan pa ang sinabi niya. Gabi na, hindi pa rin siya napapagod sa pang-aasar niya.

"Malaki ang chance na mamatay na ang mga zombies after a few days. Makakapunta na tayo sa Aquinas Island with lesser threats. Hopefully, wala tayong ma-encounter na tulad ng mga Z Class zombies."

Kio sounds reassuring, but his face is worried. Alam ko na iniisip niya ang mga possible plans kung makakaharap namin ang isang Z Class zombie, but our survival with these types of zombies is very slim.
