Blossompaw glanced up at the night sky. The half-moon shone brightly at the star-filled sky. Blossompaw knew that this night she was going to go to the Moonpool.
Littleclaw padded towards her and said," It's time. Let's to to the Moonpool." Blossompaw nodded.
As they set off to the Moonpool, Blossompaw's pelt prickled with uneasiness. She hoped that Starclan will tell her something about the journey which was less than a month away.
Finally, they reached the Moonpool. Blossompaw spotted Dropwhisker there. Littleclaw urged her forward to met her.
"Oh, Blossompaw," Dropwhisker meowed as she saw Blossompaw. "I had heard of you during last moon's gathering."
"Hi Dropwhisker," Blossompaw replied. "It's great to meet you." Dropwhisker smiled at her before she went to greet Littleclaw.
Blossompaw left the two cats to talk and she went to see the Moonpool.
The moon floated high in the sky ad the sliverstream reflected the sliverpelt which made Blossompaw gasped in awe. "It's...beautiful," she whispered.
Littleclaw then turned and faced her. "Blossompaw," she meowed. "Is it your wish to enter into the mysteries of Starclan as a medicine cat?" Blossompaw smiled proudly as she fluffed out her fur in excitement.
Her eyes glittered in awe as she said, "It is."
"Then come forward."
Blossompaw plodded up to her until they stood at the edge of the Moonpool. Littleclaw then raised her head to gaze at Sliverpelt.
"Warriors of Starclan, I present to you this apprentice. She had chosen the path of a medicine cat. Grant her your wisdom and insight so that she may understand your ways and heal her Clan in accordance with your will."
Littleclaw then waved her tail at Blossompaw. "Crouch down and drink from the pool."
Nodding, Blossompaw obeyed and crouched down and drink with the other medicine cats. The water tasted icy cold, piercing her to the bone. As she swallowed the water, she closed her eyes peacefully.
Then her eyes opened and she found herself in unfamiliar territory. Weird scents of cats flooded her nose. Out of the corner of her eyes, she noticed a cat behind her.
After the cat walked closer to her, Blossompaw finally found out who he was. He was Lionfur, the Starclan warrior.
"Blossompaw, beware," he said anxiously. "There will be danger during the journey, danger that even Starclan cannot stop. Blood will spill blood. But leaf will save the clan."
"Danger..? Leaf will save the clan? What does all this mean?" Blossompaw asked. But Lionfur only said, "Time will unfurl itself. You will know when time comes."
Blossompaw woke up beside the Moonpool as Littleclaw and Dropwhisker stirred. When Littleclaw woke up, Blossompaw immediately said, "Littleclaw! It's terrible! Starclan-"
"Hush," Littleclaw replied. "No medicine cat tell another cat about her dreams."
"But-" Blossompaw protested, but was stopped when the tip of Littleclaw's tail blocked her mouth. "Okay then," she mumbled through the fur.
Then, they left the Moonpool and headed back to the camp.
When they arrived back at the camp, it was not quiet. All the cats, even Greenstar, was awake.
"What had happened?" Littleclaw asked Greenstar who was ordering a patrol.
"Leafpaw told me that Petalpaw was missing an hour ago. So I sent some cats to look for them but to no avail." Greenstar explained. "Thus, I woke the clan so everybody could help find her."
Blossompaw gasped. Petalpaw? Gone? She could not believe it, so she asked Greenstar, "Can I, Leafpaw and Brownpaw help find her?"
"Sure," Greenstar replied. "But let Woodpool go with you. He's over there with Leafpaw and Brownpaw."
Blossompaw immediately rushed over to them. "Come on! Let's find Petalpaw!" she said eagerly. The three cats nodded.
"Let's head towards the acorn forest," Woodpool suggested. "Maybe she went there to hunt." The three cats nodded their heads in agreement.
When they reached there, they could not scent her at all.
"Petalpaw! Petalpaw!" Blossompaw shouted ad they headed deeper into the forest. The scents of prey was stronger than ever but still she did not care. Petalpaw was her littermate and had always played with her. She can't be dead. I just know it. Blossompaw thought.
Suddenly, Blossompaw scented a familiar scent. Petalpaw's! With trembling paws, she followed the scent, with the there other cats following closely behind her.
The scent led them to the abandoned twoleg nest. Blossompaw tensed. Sh never did like this place. Padding into the nest, she sniffed. But Petalpaw's scent had disappeared. It was replaced by a scent of death. A thought pieced through her like lightning. Petalpaw is gone. Gone.
"Petalpaw is gone! Oh Starclan...," Blossompaw moaned, eyes blurred from unshed tears. Tears then began streaming down her cheeks and she cried like a kit why had just lost her mother, except that it was a sister who had lost her beloved sister.
Woodpool, Leafpaw, and Brownpaw tried to comfort her, but ended up Leafpaw and Brownpaw crying too.
"Petalpaw could not have be gone like that!" Woodpool yowled. "She is in somewhere and we have to find her!" The three apprentices licked away their tears and nodded their heads, but deep down inside them they knew Petalpaw was gone... forever...
After three hours, they still did not find her. Reluctantly, they headed back to camp.
"All the cats old enough to catch their own food gather hey beneath the tallest pine tree for a clan meeting!" Greenstar's voice thundered. Blossompaw and the three other cats immediately headed towards the tallest pine tree, hoping that the meeting was about finding Petalpaw.
"After several hours, we still could not find Petalpaw. We doubt that she had been capture by Waterclan. So, I announced Petalpaw as dead, we will sit vigil to get tonight," Greenstar said sadly.
"No! This can't be true! My daughter!" Hollypelt's moan travelled through the camp. Murmurs of disagreement could also be heard. Petalpaw, I'll miss you. Blossompaw thought. But... who could have killed you?
