"Hey Sam, you know Bucky right?" Steve asked, dragging Bucky over to Falcon.

"Yeah, I know the dude!" Sam responded cheerfully, handing Bucky a beer.

There seemed to be no hard feelings even with Bucky trying to kill him. Bucky smiled, happy to be accepted and opened the beer with his metal arm. Steve and Sam chatted for a couple minutes with Bucky sipping his drink and looking around in the background before Steve dragged him away to the next member of the team.

"And Bucky, this is Thor. He's an Asgardian." Steve told Bucky.

"How do you do?" Thor said in a booming, sincere voice.

"Very well, thank you." Bucky said, a little intimidated by the pile of blond muscle standing before him.

Once again, Steve led him to another man.

"Hey Bruce, how's it going?" Steve said, then to Bucky; "You remember Bruce Banner right? The one who fixed our tv that one time?"

"Ah, hello Bucky. You seem much happier than the last time I saw you." Bruce said, seeming nervous and paranoid as usual.

"I'm doing much better." Bucky replied, with a little smile.

He felt sort of bad for Bruce. He always seemed to be the butt of jokes. Bruce seemed like an outcast to Bucky. He clearly was very shy and had trouble socializing like the rest of the easy going crew. He decided to befriend him. In a strange way, Bruce reminded Bucky of himself.

After a few minutes of chatting about Bucky's arm and what a miracle it was, Steve dragged him away to meet yet another Avenger. Bucky's head was swimming.

"I don't think we really need to talk to Tony, so let's go talk to Natasha." Steve said.

Bucky's throat closed and he stopped in his tracks.

"Steve, I think this is a really bad idea." Bucky said quickly and quietly.

"Come on Buck, you'll be fine! She'll love you!" Steve said, not understanding why Bucky was so hesitant.

"Steve, I tried to kill her. I don't think we're on the best terms." Bucky managed to choke out.

Steve had totally forgotten about the pair's encounter. It was back when Bucky was brainwashed, and Natasha wasn't on any side except for her own.

"Bucky, people change. You sure have, and so has she. All you have to do is say hello to her, and if you feel the need, maybe an apology is in order." Steve said, going into his whole pep talk.

"Alright. But if she seems angry or ready to kill, please get me out of there." Bucky said with a sigh, blowing his hair out of his face.

They walked slowly over to where the couple were sitting.

"Clint, Natasha, this is Bucky." Steve said cautiously.

"I believe we've crossed paths more than a couple times." Natasha said cooly, showing no emotion.

"The famous Bucky Barnes. You know, Steve never shuts up about you." Clint said jokingly, untangling himself from Natasha to shake Bucky's hand.

Bucky blushed and said hello to the both of them.

"Alright who wants cake?" Stark called from the other end of the room, waving a knife around and saving Bucky from the awkward moment.

Three of the other Avengers ran over to get the weapon away from Tony. They'd learned the hard way that sharp things and drunkenness did not go well together. As they wrestled the knife away from him, Steve laughed and grabbed Bucky's arm, leading him to the table.

"What kind do you want? I'll grab you a slice." Steve said, smiling.

"Chocolate please." Bucky said.

He was starving. He hadn't had junk food at all in the hospital, and he was having a bad craving.

As Steve walked to the cake and grabbed two slices, cries of indignation broke out.

"Hey Stark, how come Cap gets two?"

"Yeah, I want two!"

"Guys wai-"

"Hey now, don't want to overeat and get too fat for the spandex Rogers."

"Hey no fair!"

"EVERYBODY NEEDS TO PIPE DOWN, IM GETTING A SLICE FOR BUCKY. God, you all are like massive three year olds." Steve roared, shutting the rest up.

Bucky snickered as Steve plopped his cake down in front of him, leaving all the other Avengers with their mouths gaping at the famous peace keeper Captain America loosing his cool.

"Idiots." Steve said, sitting beside Bucky.

It was the best he'd felt in a while.
