"What is the next clue Damon? You have to tell me." Brooklyn pressured. Damon looked away from her blue eyes. It's been quite some time since they've seen Stefan.
And Klaus too.
"I do not have to tell you anything Brooklyn." He spat her name angrily. She flinched at his sudden outburst. He had outbursts like this before, quite often actually, those were very familiar to Brooklyn. Her older brother would wave his hands around, yelling at everyone and cursing a lot. But this one was different. He was way calmer than usual, but she actually thought that Damon would recognize her will to find Klaus, just like she did when he almost risen 30 angry, old vampires to find Katherine.
"Is that what you've told Elena?" She whispered making Damon sigh. His lack of answers meant that he was making sure that Elena sees Stefan again.
"She loves Stefan, Brooklyn. That is why I'm doing what I'm doing. She's broken." He whispered not taking his gaze from his feet.
"And I love Niklaus! I'm broken too! I've been broken for quite some time!" She yelled. Feeling salty tears run down her cheeks she gasped for breath. Damon's blue eyes softened as he looked her freaking out in front of him.
"Please, Damon, just tell me. I can't go on like this any longer. It's been two months, and you have no clue what's going on. You do not even know if Stefan's alive. Let me help you find them." She begged crashing her knees on the hard floor of the Salvatore mansion. Damon knelt down beside her lifting her chin up so she can look at him. Their blue eyes met and Damon released a huff of air and embraced her in a tight loving hug.
"Shh, I'm so sorry sis. I'm here now, and I'll let you find him. Everything's gonna be okay. We are gonna be okay." His voice softened as he rocked her body in his arms trying to calm her down.
Brooklyn had been holding all of this sadness inside for almost two months since Klaus left. She would wake up when the clock strikes noon, get dressed and go to Mystic Grill to drink it's whole liquor supply, then come back home, fighting the urge to take off her daylight ring and become the ash. Without him, that's all she was anyway. A pile of ash.
Noticing that she was not even half way done with crying, Damon picked her up from the floor and placed her on the couch that stood in front of the fireplace. Brooklyn stared at the fire lifelessly as Damon took off her shoes and her jacket. He threw a blanket over her body and she snuggled into it. He sat across from her pouring them both a glass of bourbon.
"You comfy now?" He asked as he watched Brooklyn drink the whole glass in one gulp. She nodded.
"I'm sorry about the shirt." She pointed to the black wet stain on his chest. He shrugged.
"You should see your face. Eyeliner and mascara gone to shit." He commented making her chuckle. "I don't really care anymore."
"Okay, so, Andy found us an address in Memphis, Tennessee. An animal attack." Damon explained earning all of her attention. She stood up in her seat, hope lightening her eyes. For the first time that summer, there was hope in her eyes.
"And I think I'm going to need your help sis."
An hour later, Brooklyn walked out of the house ready to find the love of her life, again. Because she was left out, again. That was the reality which Brooklyn was more than happy enough to temporarily forget until she founds him. She pushed the thoughts at the back of her head and walked to the car. Damon was sitting on the driver's seat, talking to his drinking buddy Alaric. Brooklyn sat on the backseat.
The ride to Memphis was filled with the sound of the radio blasting. Brooklyn tried to shut it all out, including Alaric's voice, to which she was pretty sure she was getting an allergy. She looked out of the window keeping silenced.
After some time, Damon pulled up his car in front of the house and Brooklyn could smell the scent of blood from the driveway.
"I hope you don't get disgusted easily teach. If this is our bro's doing, it can get pretty sickening." Brooklyn turned around to face the dumbfounded face of her brother's drinking buddy.
"How bad can it actually be?" He asked looking at the siblings who just shrugged in return.
"Let's just hope you found out soon enough." She said running to the door. Damon walked to her, waving his boot over the doorstep, making sure that he does not need an invitation. He walked in without a struggle, meaning that the owner of the house was dead. Brooklyn followed the scent of blood to the living room leaving the two men to look around. She was met with two female corpses sitting on the sofa.
Yes, sitting.
Their heads were ripped off, legs and arms separated from the rest of the body, but her brother brought them back together like a puzzle. The treatment for the victims was rather unusual for any other average vampire, but for Stefan, it was the everyday thing. It gave Brooklyn proof that her brother was not entirely gone.
He did not turn his emotions off.
By the time she figured this out, Alaric was standing frozen at the living room door with a shocked gaze plastered all over his face.
"Oh my God." He whispered not taking his gaze off of the dreadful sight. "What- why?"
Damon walked in examining the room. There were bloody hand prints on the walls, and the furniture was a mess. The bodies were put up together as if they were watching TV.
"It's his signature; there's a reason they call him the ripper. Feeds so hard he blacks out and rips them apart, but then when he's done, he feels remorse. It's the damnest thing." He lifted his leg and wobbled the first woman's knee with his foot. "He put the bodies back together."
What worried Brooklyn was that there was no sign of Klaus. She was happy to know that her brother was alive, but still, Klaus left with Stefan by his side. They were suppose to be here together, right? She got her hopes up, and now she got hurt, again.
She exhaled deeply and moved away from the sofa. She heard a creak beneath her knee high boots and stepped away from the carpet. She kneeled down, with her brother and the History teacher staring at the ground from over her shoulder.
It revealed a door for the basement. She opened the wooden door revealing chains made of steel. Now it was obvious, Rebekah was right and Klaus was looking for werewolves.
