Chapter 1: You're Gonna Turn Your Back On Family?

-Narrative P.O.V-

Kim Bora lives amongst mutants, and is a mutant herself. She discovered her powers when she was eight years old. Bora is 18 now and for the past ten years her and her family have been constantly on the move. Whenever Bora is found out, her family must pack up and move to another state where no one knows them because society today doesn't exactly take kindly to people like Bora.

Bora was doing her last year of high school, in a school she had recently just moved to. She was on her way to math class when a group of girls that were more popular than she was shoved into her and pinned her against a locker. One of the girls had her phone out and had a picture on the screen. It was a picture of the incident that happened with an unidentified mutant a couple of states back.

The mutant in the picture captured on CCTV was about 5'7 and had long blonde hair. Her eyes reflected off the camera lens and emitted a pink glow. Bora's eyes are originally a deep brown, but when her powers are active, her eyes glow the color of her mood. They were pink in the picture because she was caught on camera with another mutant friend she made in that state, so pink meant that she was having fun.

"This mutant looks extremely similar to you, freak." The girl spat. Bora rolled her eyes. She's dealt with this situation too many times to count.

"There's a lot of girls who are my height and have blonde hair." Bora scoffed and shoved the girl off her and continued walking.

"Don't walk away from me!" The same girl retorted and grabbed for Bora's hair and dragged her to the ground.

"If she is a mutant, I wonder what power she has." Another girl suggested.

The ring leader smirked evilly, "Let's see if she can breathe toilet water,".

The girls dragged Bora to the girls bathroom and dunked her head in and out of the toilet bowl repeatedly. Bora's hair was soaked and her mascara was running, but it wasn't because of the water. It was the tears of rage she was crying trying to contain her anger.

The girls continued to pull and tug out of Bora until her bag fell off her back and it's contents scattered onto the bathroom tiles. Pens, books, pencils and a medication bottle rolled around the floor. One of the girls walked over to the medication bottle to investigate it.

Patient: Kim Bora
Reason for prescription: To control power surges and outbursts.
Dosage: Two pills every six hours. Consult with doctor if dosage should be increased or reduced.
Side affects: Drowsiness, Dehydration, Migraines, Mood swings.

"I knew she was a mutant!" The girl cried.

"That's right, she's nothing but a puny and worthless mutant. She doesn't belong on this planet, her and her kind." The top girl snarled. When she said that, something snapped inside of Bora, and she lost control. She shook out of the girls' clutches and stood up to turn to face them. Her eyes glowed fluorescent red with anger and she narrowed her eyes on the 'ring leader' of the 'posse'. She sprinted at her at light speed and grabbed her throat and threw her against a mirror, causing it to smash.

She then turned to another and head-butted her, breaking her nose. The other two girls stood there shocked, and ran out of the bathroom screaming and crying. When Bora regained control over herself, she looked around and her face turned from anger to horror, looking at what she had just done. She grabbed her bag and rushed out of the school before anyone else could see her.

Bora bursted through the door of the home she had recently moved to, but because she was always on the move, she could never really call anywhere 'home'.

Her mother and father rushed to the door to find their daughter slumped against a wall in the hallway, holding her chest and sobbing uncontrollably.

"Bora! Sweetie what's wrong?!" Mrs.Kim said as she held her daughter close to her.

Bora struggled to string a sentence together. "I tried to ignore them mom, b-but they kept saying h-hurtful things.." Bora stuttered. "A-and then everything went b-blurry and I lost control!".

Bora's mother turned to her father and motioned for him to come into the kitchen.

"What are we supposed to do?! We literally JUST settled here and now we have to leave again?! We can't keep running forever.." Mrs.Kim stressed.

"She's our daughter! What else can we do for her?" Mr.Kim replied. "We don't have the money to move again and we have to pay for her medication,".

"We have no other choice.. we have to send her away.." Bora's mother said quietly. Mr.Kim didn't know what to say, he stared into space. But he knew that sending his daughter away was the only option they had.

Bora's brother Kim Taehyung came down the stairs to see what was happening. He spotted Bora sitting on the bottom step sobbing her eyes out.

"Bora, what's happening?" Taehyung said worriedly.

"They're gonna send me away Tae." Bora cried.

"Don't talk that way Bora, I won't let anyone send you away." Taehyung said sternly, assuring his sister that he'd keep her safe.

Taehyung went on to think about what his sister just said, and found himself eavesdropping on his parents conversation. He heard plenty of the conversation to know that they were in fact talking about sending his little sister away.

Bora's parents concluded their conversation and walked back out into the hallway, but just as they did guards from the M.C.C (Mutant Containment Centre) came bursting through the door.

"M.C.C! There's been reports of a mutant living at this residence! Co-operate and come with us or we will use force!" One of the guards ordered.

Two other guards reached over to Bora and pried her out of her older brother's embrace. Bora kicked and jolted and screamed but the guards tightened their grips on her arms. Bora continued resisting and Taehyung grabbed for her, refusing to let her go.

One of the guards took out a stun rod and shocked Bora in an attempt to neutralize her. Electricity from the shock pumped through her body, but that still didn't stop her from fighting against the guard's clutches. The guard hit her with rod again but with a stronger electric pulse. Bora fell weak and felt herself losing consciousness.

The final moments Bora could remember before blacking out were her brother kicking and screaming for his sister.

"NO! YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO HER! THEY'LL HURT HER THERE!!" Taehyung screamed as he witnessed his sister being dragged out the door.

The final thing Bora said to her mother and father was;
"You're gonna turn your back on family?".
And with that, Bora was taken out of the house and put in the back of a car before everything went black. She wasn't sure if she was going to see her family again, but then again she didn't know if she wanted to see her mother and father again for betraying her like this..
