"Umm...Lia and I have to go talk about something real quick." Tyler pulls me up the stairs before my Uncle Jace or his mom can protest. When we enter his bedroom, he immediately closes and locks the door. "Who the hell is Uncle Jace?"
He doesn't appear mad about this new found information, but he isn't happy either. "He is my dad's brother. You've never met him before." "No shit, Cahlia," he says running his hands through his hair. I'm smiling a little inside because he looks so cute when he is stressed.
If my Uncle Jace wasn't downstairs, I would take him on this bed right now.
I shake the dirty thoughts out of my head and focus on my stressed out boyfriend. "Why are you shaking your head?" Damn. I thought I was visualizing myself doing that, not physically doing it. "No reason," I say, sitting on my hands. "Cahlia, do you not think I know what's going on in that head of yours. You were thinking about us having sex, weren't you?"
I drop my mouth open, trying to figure out how he possibly could have known that. As if reading my mind, he says "I've noticed your cheeks turn really red when you think about us." "Ugh, why do you have to be so observant sometimes. You just took the fun out of my thoughts." I gently kick my heels against his bed.
Tyler softly laughs, but I can still sense the tension. "I think about us all the time. I just have a good way of hiding it. Now back to this Uncle Jace." I lay flat on Tyler's bed, kicking my shoes off. I raise my knees up as I'm laying down.
"Jace is my dad's younger brother. My mom's side of the family never approved of her marrying my dad. Something about him being a playboy and stuff. Well, the same goes for my dad's family. His side thought my mother was nothing but a gold digger. However, unlike my mom's family, my dad's side accepted Cayden and I. We would go to my Grandma and Grandpa's house all the time."
Tyler comes and lays down beside me. He turns on his side and listens deeply to my story; capturing every word that leaves my mouth.
"My dad's family loved us regardless of their feelings towards my mother. However, after the accident, I felt so guilty that I couldn't face them. After the funeral, I kind of just cut them off. Cayden continued talking to them and he would tell me that they missed me. One day I was really close to going to my Grandma's house, but I changed my mind as soon as I got in the car."
I close my eyes, picturing that day in my head. I wanted to visit her so badly, but the guilt outweighed the want.
I feel a hand reach over and land on my waist. "Babe, why didn't you tell me?" I turn to look at him and place my hand on his forearm. "Because it would have brought up my feelings of regret that I've been burying deep down inside of me. I also might have been scared that they wouldn't welcome me back with open arms."
Tyler's thumb reaches up and gently rubs my cheek. "I think that's the last thing they would do. Your Uncle Jace seemed really happy when he saw you. I think you should just go downstairs and hear him out. I'll be up here if you need me to beat him up." We both laugh at his little joke. I take a deep breath in before leaning over and kissing Tyler his lips.
