The edge of the bridge has become my new favorite spot in the Polar District, looking out over the bay. My thoughts have taken a standstill and I'm grateful, because there is too much going on and only so much I really know.

There is a lot I don't understand. I probably won't get answers for a while. I'm always one to push boundaries, to break rules, to do what I think is best.

I want to go back into the city to find the rest of the Deviants. I want to find Harry and look him in the eyes until he recognizes who I am. I want to know all of the answers to all of the questions I have.

Maybe this time, keeping those boundaries may be the best thing for me.

Suddenly, there's movement on the other side of the Thames. A green light is flashing on and off, small but noticeable all the way over here.

"Malachi! Caleb! Come out here!" I shout towards the entrance of the house, turning my attention back to the light.

Both of them rush up in an instant to my side, looking to me.

"What is it?" Caleb asks.

I point across the water. "Do you see that light over there? That isn't a normal light on the shoreline. It looks like someone is signaling us."

"That's because they are," Malachi says, leaving me confused.

"What do you mean? Who's they?" I ask, frowning.

Malachi's lips turn up into a small smile as he responds. "I gave Harry a signal once the Deviants made it to the safe zone. That's Harry over there, flashing that light."

I literally gasp as I look out over the water once more, imagining Harry and so many others trying to get to safety.

"But how will they get over here? There's half a mile of water between us and it's too cold to swim," Caleb interjects.

Malachi turns to face Caleb, his face proud and confident. "Niall knows how to get across. Don't underestimate him."

Caleb steps back, holding his hands in the air. "How the hell are all of those Deviants supposed to make it over here?"

Malachi is fast with a response. "There's an abandoned Underground tunnel. The Core uses it here and there to transport nearby to the O2. That's their way in."

"Underground..." I say out loud. "That doesn't sound dangerous at all."

I silently pray that Harry makes it safely. After all these days, that's the only thing I want. Even if he doesn't remember me yet.

Harry

Complaining teens and grumpy adults all fill in my ears, their words knives and pins and everything piercing in my ears behind me.

I guess they don't like fleeing for their lives, especially when their lives depend on it.

We were spotted by Patrols earlier in the streets and had to run as fast as light to darkness. Gunshots were fired and scared the shit out of everyone, but luckily, we know how to use guns too.

Unfortunately, those gunshots made everyone scatter to fend for their lives. The amount of people we left the Coalition with has dwindled.

Under the cover of night, multiple groups of ten or so filter into the entrance to the Underground, where Niall has led us. According to him, he has access to this metro and can transport us to safety.

Who knew that safety would be the Polar District.

Niall is a friend of ours, working undercover with the government's Protector Core for the Coalition's benefit. How much longer his double life will remain a secret... who knows.
