It's been two days and Harry hasn't left my side since the Patrol incident. I don't blame him; he almost lost me. Almost.
He told me about what Liam said, how the Patrols have taken the citizens of London out of their homes. It's hard to understand what the main purpose of that is, but I feel we could be one step closer to answering those questions if we figure out what is in the vials.
And I finally told Harry about what happened in the O2; it seemed like the right thing to do after he saved my life. Again.
"For a super smart computer, it is taking a long time for the results to show up," Harry laughs, leaning back against the metal table.
"Patience," I warn him, rolling my eyes.
He chuckles to himself quietly, his eyes following my every move. To the table, the computer, the bedroom, the Retrieval... his eyes are always on me.
Sure, it's comforting to know I'm in sight, but I always wonder what he's thinking about while he's looking at me. Sometimes he looks at me sternly, then other times softly and comforting.
Mostly, he appears like he's in awe.
I look to him. "What are you thinking about?" I ask quietly.
"Everything," He replies, his eyes still locked on me.
I smile. "No, like right now. What are you thinking about right now?"
Harry breaks his gaze from my figure and looks down to the floor, contemplating his next words.
His voice comes out almost as a whisper. "Did you find anything from my blood results?"
I wasn't expecting that from him.
My feet carry me to him, instinctively taking his hands into mine. "Your bloodwork came back fine, Harry. There's things I have to clarify on my own... it's difficult without Malachi around to help. I figured I'd compare the O2 vials and your bloodwork, just for the hell of it."
"You need to get away from all this," He says afterwards.
I push his hands off. "Harry! You are seriously the worst distraction."
"But an attractive one, don't you think?" He smirks, wiggling his eyebrows.
Laughing, I walk past him back to the computer. "Let me finish up and then I can get away with you."
I look back over to him and he's pouting, almost about to stomp his foot down like a little child. "Okay," He mumbles under his breath, sulking back to the stool he was sitting on.
"Oh, don't be so dramatic," I huff. "You signed up for this when you called me an intern."
"I didn't know the intern would practice patience testing!" He exasperates sarcastically. "I want you all to myself, Serena. The lab steals you away."
"Enlighten me, then," I respond. "How would we get away from it all?"
Harry is silent for a second, then answers. "Well, there's always making out..."
"Other than that!" I shout back, my bones rumbling with laughter. This is the most I have laughed in a long time, and I love it.
"Okay, okay!" He calms me. "I was thinking of asking you on a date or something. I mean, I don't know if you would like to."
A date?
My veins feel like jelly, making me all weak. The thought of Harry taking me on a date makes me feen with anticipation. Where would we go? What would we do?
