Chapter 33

I woke up to two people coming into the room. "ssh don't wake her." M'gann whispered.

"I won't," Connor whispered.

They crept over to Jamie, "don't pick her up." I said as I sat up.

"Oh did we wake you?" M'gann asked.

"No," I lied as I stretched. "Is the fight over?" I asked.

"Yes," Connor said. M'gann peered at Jamie.

"What's her name?"

"Jamie." I said. "She's adorable." Connor said.

The door burst opened and Dick stood in the door way.

"Hey," he ran over to me.

"Are you alright?" He asked.

"I'm better now. Our little one is over there." I pointed to the crib.

Dick stood up and looked at the crib. M'gann grabbed Connor by his shirt and phased them trough the wall to leave Dick and I alone.

Dick went over and picked her up and held her in the crook of his arm. "Her hair is white." Dick said.

"Really?" I asked, I hadn't noticed that earlier.

Dick walked over to me with Jamie. He sat on the side of the bed. She had a head of snow white hair just like my bangs.

"The Joker Venom." I said.

"It's not your fault. At least she's alive." Dick said.

Jamie started crying. Dick looked really concerned. Dick gave Jamie to me.

"I think someone's hungry." I cooed at Jamie. I fed and burped her, and she stopped crying.

A knock came at the door.

"Come in." Dick said. Bruce, Tim and Damien came in.

"Hey" I said. Damien ran over to the bedside.

"Is this your child?" He asked.

"Yes this is Jamie." I said. Bruce and Tim walked over.

"Would you like hold her?" I asked Bruce.

"Um sure," he took his cowl off and I gave Jamie to him. She cried for a second then stoped and nestled up against Bruce.

"She's a cutie." Bruce said.

"She's got white hair." Dick said.

"I see, I guess the Joker Venom did affect her." He said.

"At least it didn't kill her. I swear if it had, I would be with Jason somewhere tracking down the Joker to make him pay." I said.

"We'll good thing your not." Tim said as he looked at Jamie.

"Father can I hold her?" Damien asked.

"When she's older, she's still fragile." Bruce said as he gave me Jamie.

Another knock came at the door. Dinah poked her head in.

"Can We come in? Well we're already in." She said as she and Ollie came in.

"Hey Canary Arrow." Tim said.

"Hey Tim." She said as she walked pass them to me.

"Hey how ya doing Maria?" Ollie asked.

"I'm better now." I said.

"Can I hold her?" Dinah asked.

"Sure," I gave Jamie to her.

"Her hair's white." Ollie exclaimed.

"She's beautiful." Bruce dragged Tim and Damien out. Dinah gave Jaime to Ollie.

Jamie started crying again. So I took her back.

"I'd suggest you let her sleep." Dinah said as she stood up.

"Well I'll see you two later." She said then left with Ollie.

Dick took Jamie and put her in her crib. "She looks like you." Dick said as he came back over to me.

"She hasn't opened her eyes yet maybe she'll have your eyes." I said as I rested my head on his shoulder. I then noticed bruises on his neck.

"What happened?" I asked.

"What?"

"The bruises on your neck what happened?" I Said as I touched it lightly.

"Oh just got strangled by an alien. Don't worry Connor saved me." He said Giving me a reassuring smile.

"You said you'd be careful." I said as I put my hand on his cheek.

"I was as careful as I could be. You know this is a dangerous job we do." He said as he cupped my face and placed a kiss on my forehead.

After a while Jamie woke up again. "Hey Cutie," I said as I picked her up.

Tim had gone and gotten me a change of cloths. I held Jamie in my arms. She opened her eyes and she had Dick's blue eyes.

Dick was out hanging with other heroes. So I put Jamie down for a second and put my mask on. I picked Jamie up and left the room with her.

Everyone I passed had to stop and coo at Jamie. "It's a baby," Diana exclaimed as she ran over to me.

"She's so pretty." Diana said as she took Jamie.

"She's a small one." Diana said as she gave Jamie back to me.

"Congratulations to you and Nightwing on a beautiful daughter." She smiled.

I kept walking when Barry took her away from me. I casted a temporary slowness spell on him so I could get her back.

I finally found Dick. "Hey what are you doing up, you should be resting." He said as he pulled me down into the seat next to him.

"Dick when have I ever actually done that?" I asked.

"True, but please don't over do it." Dick pleaded.

"Jamie opened her eyes." I said. Dick looked at our daughter who was squirming in my arms.

"She's definitely feisty." Kaldur said.

"Just like her mother." Dick said as he took Jamie from me.

"Oh shut up, if anything she's an acrobat like her father. She was Constantly moving when she was inside me." I said as I stroked Jamie's hair. Dick laughed.

Later we went to a new house. It turned out Bruce and Oliver had prepared a safe house for Dick and I. It had a giant basement that had a zeta tube in it. The house was also completely furnished.

"Thank you so Bruce this means a lot." I said.

"It's nothing, The league's had this for a while, you two are the first to use it. Although the nursery had to be added." Bruce said.
