As I slowly opened my eyes waking up, something didn't seem right. I wasn't in my bed. I was lying on the floor of a dark room. I couldn't see my fin in front of my face. I slowly floated up.
"Hello!?" I screamed hoping for a response.
Nobody responded. I yelled again but there was still no answer. I heard the sound of a door slowly starting to creak open and light filled the room that was once pitch black. A fish was behind the door that was once shut and he started swimming towards me. I couldn't figure out who it was. I could only see his shadow following behind him.
"Mark..." he said.
"Have you missed me dude?"
I then realized that the fish was none other than Paul. But how could this be? Paul was hooked. Wasn't he?
"Dude...why did you let me get hooked? It's all your fault bro..." he said creepily.
"Paul, I'm sorry. I never meant for you to get hurt..." I said whimpering.
The door slammed shut. It was dark once again. The door then began to creak open a second time. There was a different fish behind it. Mark still couldn't tell who it was but this fish seemed to be a little bigger than Paul was.
"Mark..." he said.
"Why couldn't you just do your job correctly? I didn't want to fire you but you left me no choice...you shouldn't have slept in Mark."
As he talked and swam towards me, the shadows got lighter and he was revealed to be my old boss.
"I'm sorry sir...I didn't mean to upset you. I wish I could have done better..." I said cowering with fear.
He suddenly vanished and his body turned into a black ink. The black ink then spread through the water and slowly dispersed as it faded off into nothing. The door slammed shut again. It stayed close for a long moment and during this time, I floated there without moving. My body was stiff and I felt frozen. Though it was dark, my eyes were still wide open for they were expecting anything at this moment. This time, the door didn't creak. Instead, there was a knock on the door. I continued to stay floating in the water. I tried to ignore it. I tried to pretend that it wasn't there. I wanted to believe that I didn't hear it. But the knock that I heard on that door was as clear as the sea itself. There was then another knock on the door. As I shivered and trembled with fear, I began swimming forwards toward the door. Once I felt my body hit the wall, I fumbled around as I tried to locate the doorknob. Eventually, I found it and began turning it slowly. I carefully started opening the door as a crack of light began beaming through the room. As the door opened completely, I noticed that standing and towering over me was the mayor. He was carrying a hook in his fin and he smiled down at me as he began to laugh. I screamed at the top of my lungs and it ripped and echoed through the water. Then, I woke up. I sprung out of bed realizing it was all just a nightmare. Something told me that that day was not going to be a very good day.
