Battle Intelligence

To answer everyone's question it just deleted itself apparently. Every time I think I have it figured out it fucks up again. And at this rate it's gonna make me rip all my goddamn hair out.
-several weeks later-
Over the past several weeks (y/n) has became really close to everyone on his team, to the point that he even considers them all to be his best friends. He enjoys being around them and he is not all to nervous around most of them. However, (y/n) still feels very nervous around Pyrrha it's almost as if the more time he's spent around her it's gotten worse. This is because (y/n) has developed a massive crush on her but, he doesn't wanna say anything because he believes Pyrrha could do a lot better than him. Over this time (y/n) has also introduced his sisters to the rest of his team not to mention getting introduced to his sister's teammates as well. They are currently in Mrs. Goodwitch' class through out the whole semester so far (y/n) has avoided being selected which is perfectly okay with him. He doesn't necessarily like fighting granted he's not terrible at it but he's not great at it either plus, he tries to find a way to solve a battle without directly dealing damage himself. He sees himself more as the set up so others can do the true damage but, he realizes he won't always have that luxury. He is currently writing in his notebook until he hears Mrs Goodwitch say.
Goodwitch:"We have time for one more round so I'll randomize."
She pulls up a tablet and clicks a randomize button. It cycles through a bunch of different pairing until it stops prompting her to say.
Goodwitch:"Interesting. The battle will be between (Y/n) Xiao Long vs. Cardin Winchester. I request the two listed competitors come into the arena."
(Y/n) gets up and heads to the area to put on all of his equipment. While he's doing that Pyrrha seems worried about the pairing of this battle, this is apparent to Ruby and Yang who are sitting next to her. Thus, Ruby asks.
Ruby:"You ok Pyrrha?"
Pyrrha:"I'm just a little worried that this isn't going to end well."
Yang then says.
Yang:"Are you worried about (y/n)?"
Pyrrha:"Yeah, I don't want him to get hurt."
Yang:"Trust me Pyrrha (y/n) will be fine."
Pyrrha doesn't really seemed convinced as she asks.
Pyrrha:"Are you sure?"
Ruby:"Of course he is our brother after all."
Pyrrha:"Ok if you say so."
Yang tacks one more thing on as (y/n) enters the arena.
Yang:"There is a trick with (y/n), though."
At this the rest of team LNNR turns to hear what Yang is going to say next, as she says.
Yang:"Its not generally if he can beat his opponent more so how he will beat his opponent. That's the true fun part about watching him fight."
Hearing this makes his team watch the arena intently as they are excited to see how he will fight. Before the fight begins Pyrrha has noticed that (y/n) isn't wearing his helmet, it seems she's not the only one to notice it as Mrs Goodwitch asks.
Goodwitch:"Mr Xiao Long I thought you usually wore a helmet in combat?"
(Y/n) responds with.
(Y/n):"I usually do but, in my past experience where my helmet got broke in a sparring match I decided there is no point in wearing it in a sparring match."
Goodwitch:"Ok."
This causes all of team LNNR excluding (y/n) to look at Yang before Nora asks.
Nora:"You broke one of his helmets?"
Yang:"Yeah but he took the punch like a champ."
Ruby leans toward Nora and says.
Ruby:"By that she means he didn't blame Yang even though that punch also broke his nose."
This causes all of them to look at Yang as she is just smiling. They soon turn their attention back to (y/n) who says to Cardin before they begin.
(Y/n):"May the best man win."
Cardin then says very cocky.
Cardin:"Don't worry I will."
Numbers begin to appear on the monitors around the room that read "3...2...1...begin." The match is very odd because (y/n) has only fired shadowshot arrows that are blatant misses which confuses his team as Pyrrha says.
Pyrrha:"Why is he letting himself be hit while missing. This doesn't make any sense."
Ruby:"Just watch."
At this point Ruby and Yang seem to lean in as they continue to watch. This causes the rest of (y/n)'s team along with the rest of team RWBY to continue watching as they all try to pinpoint a strategy. After awhile of dodging, missing, and taking a few hits here and there (y/n) is knocked backward by one of Cardin's swings which causes him to fall onto his back as his aura falls in the red. Cardin stands over him as he lifts his mace and says.
Cardin:"I told you I would win."
As he goes to swing down his arms and legs are wrapped up by the same purple strands that grabbed the nevermore' feathers during initiation. The strands then pull Cardin down to the ground and he is unable to move. At this Mrs Goodwitch says.
Goodwitch:"That's enough. The winner seeing as Cardin can no longer battle is Mr Xiao Long. What a unique way to win I think that's the first time in Beacon history a match has ended in such way."
(Y/n) takes a bow to Mrs Goodwitch as he says.
(Y/n):"Thank you, Mrs Goodwitch."
He undoes all the tethers keeping Cardin on the ground and he extends his hand. To which Cardin looks at him in disgust and picks himself up and immediately walks away. Pyrrha, Nora, Blake, Weiss, and even Ren look befuddled at how that went until Ruby and Yang say.
Ruby and Yang simultaneously:"Told you."
Blake:"That was brilliant."
Weiss:"I can't believe it."
Nora:"Is your brother a genius?"
Ren:"Truly amazing."
Pyrrha is just smiling as she thinks to herself.
Pyrrha's thoughts:"It seems I underestimated your ability."
While (y/n) is changing back into his uniform Mrs Goodwitch tells the rest of the class about the upcoming Vytal festival. Not long after (y/n) finishes changing and makes it up to where his team was the bell rings. He is immediately greeted by his sisters as Ruby says.
Ruby:"That was awesome (y/n)."
(Y/n):"Thanks Ruby."
Yang then puts her arm over his shoulder and gives him a light noogy while saying.
Yang:"That's our genius."
He pulls away from Yang as he says as his face is red with embarrassment.
(Y/n):"Th..that's n..not funny Yang."
Weiss just face-palms as she says.
Weiss:"I don't see how he's even related to you two."
Blake:"Come to think of it he doesn't really share any genetic characteristics with you two."
Yang:"Well he's not exactly blood."
Nora jokingly says.
Nora:"What was he adopted."
(Y/n) then says very hesitantly.
(Y/n):"Actually yeah."
Nora immediately covers her mouth before she says.
Nora:"I'm sorry."
(Y/n):"No it's fine Nora. It doesn't bother me honestly, most days I don't even think about it. They accepted me into their family when I was six and I've been their brother ever since."
Pyrrha is about to ask (y/n) more about it until they all remember they have other classes.
-that night-
(Y/n) was on the roof of Beacon as he sits their working on his notes. He does this at least once a week because though he likes spending time with his team he does like the peace and quiet while he works. Though his mind keeps drifting to thoughts of Pyrrha as he is drawing which causes him to actually draw an image of Pyrrha in his notes. He notices this and sighs before he can start erasing he hears Pyrrha ask.
Pyrrha:"(Y/n) you up here?"
This causes him to frantically close his notebook as to hide the page with her drawing as he says.
(Y/n):"Yeah uh I'm um over here."
He was sitting with his legs dangling over the ledge. Pyrrha just walks over to him as she asks.
Pyrrha:"Is it okay if I sit right here? I kinda wanted to talk to you."
(Y/n)'s heart feels like it is beating a thousand beats a second as he responds with.
(Y/n):"S...sure."
Pyrrha sits down right beside as she looks out over courtyard below as she says.
Pyrrha:"So you were adopted?"
(Y/n):"Y..yeah."
Pyrrha:"Is it okay if I ask how was it?"
(Y/n) looks a saddened at her request as he remembers what it was like she can see this thus she says in a slight panic.
Pyrrha:"I'm sorry I didn't mean to bring up any bad memories. Y'know what forget I asked."
(Y/n):"No it's fine Pyrrha it just... to answer your question it sucked."
Pyrrha:"How so?"
(Y/n):"Well in my case I was left with a note that said my parents didn't want me. I was a baby then, I spent the next six years of life in that place. Every friend I made got adopted and left thus, I was alone most of those six years. I often had dreams of being adopted but would always wake up to being alone. It's an awful feeling when no cares, Pyrrha. One day I ran away and was found crying by Summer Rose aka Ruby and Yang's mother. She gave me love and care despite the fact I wasn't one of her own. I owe her everything for that."
(Y/n) wipes his eyes of developing tears as Pyrrha looks apologetic as she says.
Pyrrha:"I'm so sorry I made you relive those memories."
(Y/n):"It's ok Pyrrha. Telling that story just proves to me how far I've come."
Pyrrha just smiles at her team leader's words until she says realizing it was decently late.
Pyrrha:"We should probably get ready for bed because it's late."
(Y/n):"Your probably right."
The two head back to their dorm, get changed, and then go to sleep in their respective beds.
