-2 months later-
(Y/n) was sitting in his room where he spent most of his days. He decided that he wouldn't go out into the public, after the last time he went out he realized he really couldn't take all the eyes on him. He had gotten to the point where it was difficult to sleep as he just kept having nightmares unfortunately he wasn't the only one as his sister shared the same predicament. Yang also often had nightmares, however despite the loss of her arm she would at least kinda socialize with her family. (Y/n), for one couldn't and every time he was reminded of that fact was not doing his self esteem any favors. More importantly the loss of Pyrrha was a very heavy blow to his psyche thus, why Summer was keeping something from him. For one, she tried to surprise him and Yang with prosthetics, but (Y/n) over heard the conversation. What made him sad to hear was that the cost of the three prosthetics would make them broke. He walked in surprising Summer causing her to say.
Summer:"Oh (Y/n)! Um whatcha need sweetheart."
She looked nervous but (Y/n) just signs to his mother.
(Y/n):"I heard what you guys were talking about. You don't have to get me a prosthetic of any kind mom."
Summer:"Are sure (Y/n) it is gonna be your birthday in a few days and..."
He interrupts her by lifting his hand and signs.
(Y/n):"All I want for my birthday is for Yang to be happy. It's not like I'll need it all that much anymore."
Summer's heart broke at reading his words. It was clear (Y/n)'s dream of being a huntsman had turned to a nightmare and he was done with it. Summer then said very surprised and a little choked up as she asks.
Summer:"Are you sure?"
(Y/n) just nods and then signs.
(Y/n):"I'm sorry mom. I just think I want to live a normal life now."
Summer then watched sadly as he hobbled off to his room presumably. She hates seeing him this way which also makes her want to keep her little secret from him.
-a few days later-
Today was (Y/n)'s birthday, but he wasn't exactly thrilled about it. He was sitting in his room putting a lot of his Beacon stuff in boxes and then getting Tai to help put them in the shed next to Yang's bike. He saw this then started to observe to damages and repairs that needed to be done. While that was happening Yang was given the arm by Summer, but Yang was not pleased. She was rather angry actually as she says through slightly gritted teeth.
Yang:"Why did you get me this?"
Summer:"Well I thought this way maybe you..."
Yang:"Why didn't you get him at least a leg."
Summer:"Well, I just thought..."
Yang then shouted.
Yang:"He needs this far more than me!"
Summer then stands up and shouts back with tears in her eyes.
Summer:"He didn't want it!"
She then begins to cough violently for a minute before regaining her composure and continuing on while panting and saying.
Summer:"He wanted you to have one. He... he said he didn't need it anymore, he just wants to try living a normal life. He just wants you to be happy Yang and for you to continue your dream."
Yang sits there stunned before saying.
Yang:"Is that really what he wants?"
Summer:"That's all he told me, Yang. I'm sorry for shouting."
Yang then just hugged Summer tightly as she began to cry before saying.
Yang:"Why wasn't it me?! Why did it have to be him?!"
Summer:"What?"
Yang:"Why did (Y/n) have to be the one to get it the worst? He's done nothing but be a great friend and do all he could for everyone and be the best brother anyone could want. Why did it have to be him, he didn't deserve this."
Summer:"I... I don't know Yang. I don't know."
Unbeknownst to everyone else (Y/n) had begun to upgrade and fix Yang's bike for her. He made sure to keep it to himself, the only ones to know was Zwei and Penny who are also his helpers. What he also began to notice was that Yang had begun training again that brought an actual smile to his face. He was happy to see her back to who she was before all this happened. It actually had made (Y/n) act a little bit more like himself.
-several weeks of Yang's training later-
Yang was gathering some clothes and things for her journey. During the course of her training (Y/n) had touched up a few things for such as decreasing the spread of her gauntlet and painted her prosthetic as well, giving it a bit more of a Yang look. However, the biggest surprise was waiting outside. Yang's jaw dropped when she saw her bike all cleaned and fixed it looked better than it did when it was brand new. Penny then says for (Y/n).
Penny:"(Y/n) has been working on this for you for awhile now. He thought this was more your style than a walk to Haven."
Yang just hugs (Y/n) tightly as she says.
Yang:"You do far too much for all of us. You sure you don't want me to wait so you can come with me?"
(Y/n) just shakes his head before signing to Penny who then says.
Penny:"No, you should go to keep an eye on Ruby. He says he loves you Yang."
Yang:"Love you too, (Y/n)."
With that Yang sets out for Mistral. (Y/n) then walks in to see Summer and Tai before Summer can speak however she begins to have another violent coughing fit only this time is much more severe as she actually can't breath for a few seconds. Once the coughing has finally subsided (Y/n) looks to Summer really worried. At this Tai helps her up and says.
Tai:"You need to tell him."
(Y/n):"Tell me what?"
Summer looks to her son with regret and sadness in her soul for what she is about to say.
