a giggle
an innocent giggle
from that one popular girl.
enough
to deafen the world
yet merge the sounds
of laughter all around.
enough
to rattle the mind
of possibilities and help
spin and whirl like the merciless kind.
enough
to dive inside retrieving
the strangled heart
playing
pausing
it's breathing.
enough
to spill glistening rain
blurring common sense
creating a hurricane.
enough
to spread electricity
tingling with anxiety
shaking the long buried toxicity.
enough
to dampen the forehead
drops of perspiration
glazing the delicately terrified forehead.
enough
to alert the sirens
of an impending attack
drawing attention
back to the tyrants.
but just a glance behind
reveals a sufferer cowering
inflicted purple bruises
and red wounds
a stark contrast to the angelic pale skin.
while the devil strangles
the being inside
the cage it built.
