I got dressed and pulled my bodice tight but not too tight. I didn't want to harm the baby.
I hurried down the stairs and past right passed Christian who looked annoyed as usual.
"Julian!" I called. I peeked my head into the dining room and noticed he was having lunch with a woman. I raised my brows joyfully at him while he sipped blood from a wine glass. His eyes landed on me as I wiggled my brows at him. He choked on his drink and wiped his mouth.
"One moment." He cleared his throat and hurried over to me. He grasped my arm and closed me against the wall. I poked his chest and glanced up at him.
"I wanted to ask If it was okay to visit Max and Ruth again." I mumbled and touched the hand he had planted firmly by my head.
"No, not today." He groaned.
"Please, I was so happy to have talk to another girl about my girly stuff." I averted my gaze and he sighed.
"Fine. Now may I go back to the table and finish buisness?" He asked.
"Of course." I gave him a kiss on his cheek and hurried past him.
I smiled evily to myself as I rushed outside. I didn't go far when I noticed Christian following me. I groaned and turned to him.
"Why am I being followed?" I asked. Christian raised a brow and pushed me to continue walking.
"Julian said you were acting strange ever since you went to see his friends. He's very curious as to why." He sighed and rolled his eyes.
"It seems that I love him," I lied. "Ruth made me realize that he had a big impact on my life and how he changes when he's with me. I believe he'll fall in love with me as well."
"You're lying." He stated.
"I'm not. I believe that I truly love him. Despite his cold act he's actually a sweet man." I smiled and glanced at the clouds. Christian tried not to laugh but his shoulders shook silently.
"Stark is upset with how close you two have been." He admitted. I raised a brow and crossed my arms.
"Why's that?" I asked.
"It seems that my brother has fallen in love with a human. With you. He wants to know if you're truly acting or if you really wish to be with Julian." He groaned.
I smiled knowing he was trying to catch me in a trap using his brothers name. Afterall, Christian and Julian as very close.
"I'm truly in love with him, Stark will have to deal with the fact that Julian is who I want to be with." I lied feeling a heavy weight of regret on my shoulders.
"I see." He nodded almost as if mentally noting it down. I continued to walk my and finally made it to the cabin. I brought my knuckles to the door and waited for an answer.
Ruth quickly opened the door and pulled me into her arms for a hug.
"Great to see you again. How'd it go with Julian? Did you tell him that you love him?" She asked.
I nodded and hugged her back. I kept note that Christian was standing behind me, watching and listening.
"Yes, we ended up--" I blushed and pulled away and hid my face, "he was pleased and we--"
I couldn't say it, tell her that we made love.
"You guys made love?" She smiled as she gave me a pat on the back. I mentally groaned wishing Christian wasn't here so I could tell her how I really felt.
"Yes, it was different from the first time." I admitted. It was true, It didn't hurt and I almost didn't mind it.
She raised a brow and gave me a sly wink.
"Good for you two, did he say he loves you back?" She asked.
"He said that he may come to love me, one day." I sighed and pretended to be upset.
"Oh sweetheart, want to go see the deer. Maybe take your mind off things?" She glanced at Christian seeking for permission. He nodded and allowed us to pass.
Afrer we walked far enough she became serious and glanced at me.
"He had his most trusted man escort you here?" She mumbled. I nodded and crouched to the ground while peering at the deer in front of me just in case he was watching.
"Yes, I had a question," I leaned against a tree. "How come vampires can't hear the babies heart beat, their hearing is suppose to be inhuman."
"Julian can't hear the heart beat because the baby isn't exactly a human, it's a halfbreed of human and vampire. Vampires won't be able to sense the baby unless it wants to be known." She explained. I nodded and wiped my eyes pretending that I had cried in case Christian had been keeping an eye on us.
"I should go for now, Julian might grow suspicious if I stay too long." I gave her a hug and pointed at the cabin gesturing for Christian to come.
He appeared before us and nodded.
"Ready?" He asked.
"Yes, I'm feeling much better. Thank you Ruth. Also, how should I deal with the pain from my period?" I asked. Christian winced at the question and shook as if he got the chills.
"Take some medicine, or soak in warm water. It always helps." She winked and allowed us to slip away on that note. I glanced at Christian who looked more annoyed now than ever.
I walked beside him knowing that he had no suspicions, none at all. I was going to get away with it, I was going to be free soon as long as this baby chooses to be hidden. I silently prayed that it would continue to cloak itself.
I couldn't stay with this man, he's a monster, although he doesn't always seem like it. In a way, he may be bi-polar. He's sometimes sweet and others he's a plain asshole.
Soon, I'd be free soon.
