"Christmas trees for sale! Buy 'em while they're still green!"

"Christmas Crackers! Two for one!"

"Get yer mince pies here! Mince pies!"

Oh how Nathan loved the market during the festive period. The bustling streets and the merry spirits in everyone. It almost made him forget about his father's death. Almost. It was going to be the first Christmas that the Hayat family were going to celebrate with one less person. As Nathan strolled through the streets, he saw a stand selling clocks and watches. 'Maybe I'll take a look' Nathan thought and strolled in closer. He pulled his cloak closer to him and walked up to the woman at the stand.

"Hallo, Kunder! You like my stall?" The woman greeted. 'a German woman in England... how weird.' Nathan thought.

"Err ja, es ist sehr gut." He replied to the woman. He had picked up some German in a few books he had read. Nathan eyed a watch on the table and thought of how amazing it seemed. There were diamonds embelished on the face of the watch and the strap was made of pure gold.

"You like zis, ja? Es ist einzigartig," she smiled. 'My what a kind lady' Nathan thought.

"I'll have this one then, bitte," he pointed, bringing out his wallet to pay. He brought out the money and handed her the money but she denied it.

"Nein, nein. Es ist schon eine Weile her, seit ich jemanden getroffen habe, der Deutsch spricht(It's been a while since I've met someone who can speak German)."

"Danke, Fräulein." Nathan claimed the watched and walked home, happy he had finally completed his Christmas shopping.

Sebastian struggled to sleep that night. If he dozed off, he would see Darkor's face would appear and he would jolt up.

    ............

"Did you enjoy yourself, Your Highness," a maid asked but Sebastian blanked her and walked right past her.

"You see, maid, the prince has witnessed a very sad scene indeed. A child had died of disease in his mother's arms. He was very upset about it and asked to come back." Darkor sighed. The maid believed it but this just made Sebastian mad.

"Stop lying to yourself, fool! Go! Leave! Depart! I don't care where you go just don't come back!" Sebastian yelled and ran up the stairs to his room. He wasn't depressed, nor was he happy, he was just lost. Sebastian didn't come out of his room the next day. Christmas Day.

     ..............

As it neared Christmas, Sebastian struggled to sleep more and more and it had an effect on his wellbeing.

"Did you sleep well, Your Highness?" Victor asked.

"Yeah, somehow," he replied bluntly, leaving an awkward silence in the room.

"Tomorrow is Christmas Eve, Your Highness. Have you bought your gifts?" Victor asked.

"N-no." Sebastian murmured. He didn't want to celebrate Christmas. He wanted to stay in the warm castle and sleep properly for once. Just for once.

"Your father said if he doesn't see a gift, he's making you scrub the castle." Victor announced.

"WHAT?! THAT'LL TAKE YEARS!!" Sebastian screamed. Then it clicked. Why only get gifts for individuals when you can give a gift to the whole kingdom.
