"Hey Changbin!"

Felix shouted and Changbin cringed. He hated it when people were shouting. Right now, they had their break and the dark-haired boy was walking to his locker. But now Felix had seen him. Today he wore a blue and white shirt with a black turtleneck. Changbin thought it looked... unique.

"Yeah?"

"Our English teacher is sick today. So, like we can go home after lunch. That's so cool!"
Changbin found it quite amusing that even though Felix had a naturally deep voice he would speak rather high-pitched when being exited.

"It is..."
he smiled at the other boy who blushed instantly. They looked into each other's eyes for a moment until Felix looked away. Changbin had just smiled at him!

"The problem is... I don't get English at all..."
Felix started talking again to which Changbin reacted by raising his eyebrows a little.

"So... I wanted to ask if you'd like to come over to my place or if we could go to your house and study together. You're really smart and I understood what I had to do when you explained it to me."
Like a puppy, Felix followed Changbin around, waiting for his reaction.

People around them were talking because it was so strange that Changbin did not say anything like 'can you please just leave me alone', which was the only thing he had said to most people. But he was walking besides Felix, not saying a word, thinking of whether to do it and how to answer. Also, people thought it was strange that the new kid seemed to be so fond of Changbin. Why would he befriend an outcast, who was rude to others and weird?

Their peers sadly did not understand Changbin at all, having those thoughts. People cope with their feelings in different ways. The other people in their school also did not want to befriend Changbin because that would mean they'd be burdened by his problems. Also, they could not understand why Changbin preferred being alone. How could they understand after all? They had other things in mind than thinking about reasons why a traumatised person would behave in a certain way. Why someone who had lost his parents in front of their eyes would be afraid of trusting and building relationships with people.

Felix was different.

He wanted to get to know Changbin, he seemed like an interesting person. Like a very unique book where every page only appears after time, leaving you hanging and begging for more. Most people, to Felix, were like open books, easy to read.

What Changbin didn't see was that even though Felix looked like some popular guy would look, he wasn't like the others at all. He had his reasons to be different.

Everyone struggles, some more, some less. One person's little problem might be another person's end of life, pain can't be measured, and everyone experiences in a different way. What would be no problem for one person could be one for another.

Changbin had his reasons to be how he was. His own pain however made him numb. Numb to another persons' pain. Their problems seemed small, it was like his whole body was an open wound, burning and bleeding all over the place, he wouldn't notice if he'd cut his finger, it wouldn't make a difference.

"I don't think I have time today."
Changbin finally said and Felix looked at him with a sad expression.

"What do you have to do?"

Silence.

"I know my presence makes you uncomfortable, but I think I really need your help and you're the person I met here that I liked best.... Please... once?"
