I bounce excitedly on mommys bed as she changes into a t shirt and shorts. I'm still in my pjs. I just woke mommy up so we could go to the zoo.
"Alright babes." Mommy says tiredly as she picks me up. She takes me to my room and changes me into an outfit with similar colors so we can find each other, and despite how much she wants me to, I won't wear any of my little clothes in public.
She feeds me some fruit and bacon for breakfast and eats some herself before taking me out to the car.
"I want you to stay close to mommy at the zoo, ok? Can't have you getting lost."
"Yes mommy." I respond, only half paying attention as I giggle and look out the window.
"Do you think we're gonna see elephants?"
"Yes baby, there are big Asian elephants."
"What about giwaffes?"
"I think so. I hope so."
"And woofs?" I ask, bouncing in my seat.
"Yep. Lots of them." She smiles.
"What about gillas?!"
"Gilla?"
"Monkeys!"
"Ohhh, yep, they have gorillas. Are you exited baby, you seem excited?" She chuckles as she rubs my thigh.
"IM SO EXCITED!" I squeal. She chuckles and leans over to kiss my cheek, and I kiss hers back.
"Thank you for taking me mommy." I smile and she smiles back.
"Of course baby boy." When we get there, mommy buys our tickets
"Do you have to go to the bathroom before we go see animals?"
"No. I wanna see da monkeys!" I smile and begin pulling mommy towards one of the paths.
"Well, you're going the wrong way." She laughs and I blush. I let her lead the way while intertwining our hands. I gasp and let go of mommys hands when I see the gorillas, and I take off running.
I'm glad there aren't a lot of people here today, because I don't wanna have to be big. Not that mommy would make me, but I don't like being little in front of a bunch of people.
I look back to see mommy jogging to keep up and laughing.
I go to the thick glass or plastic or something where you can see the gorillas through and one wanders over to the glass.
Mommy comes up behind me and watches as I tap on the glass, making eye contact with the gorilla.
"Is it a boy or a girl?" I ask mommy.
"I don't really know." Mommy answers. "You could ask the lady who works here?"
I shake my head no and keep watching it. "I think it's a-"
Suddenly the gorilla slams its fist on the glass and I shriek and jump back into mommy, turning around and wrapping my arms around mommys waist, burying my face in her neck.
"It's ok!" The lady who works here runs over as I try not to cry.
"She's just looking at you, sweat heart. Same way you look at her." I look at the lady and then back at the ape.
"Look, do it back." She, the gorilla, bangs her fist against the glass again and I slowly step forward and bang my fist against the glass too. She does it with both hands and I copy her. I smile and she makes a noise that I think is happy.
I giggle and look back at mommy.
"She's the one that likes humans the most. Mr grumpy silver back over there pretends not to like people, but he always likes the little kids."
