I wake up to humming of machines near me, an annoying beeping sound that makes me whine, then a familiar giggle.

I whine louder as something grabs my hand, trying to pull it away before a voice shushes me and I realize it's mommy.

"M-ma-" I try to stutter out, but I'm so tired. I gently open my eyes to see her gasp and smile brightly.

"Hi baby boy." She smiles. "How are you feeling?" I don't answer but reach up a hand to bat at where the annoying noise is coming from, making mommy laugh.

I close my eyes as mommy kisses my forehead and try to remember what's happened.

My entire body feels numb and drugged, and I'm in a really nice hospital room.

My eyes snap open as I remember. My dad. I immediately start crying as I wonder what he's going to do to me for this.

"Luke what's wrong babe, does it hurt?" Delilah asks, running a gentle hand through my hair.

"Wh-where dad..." I cry. She smiles gently and wipes my tears.

"The police arrested your dad at work, they're not gonna let him go, there's gonna be trial and they're going to put him away where you won't have to see him ever again." She gives me a bright smile with green eyes sparkling hopefully and I make myself smile back through my tears.

"Home?" I rasp.

"Not yet babyboy." She kisses my cheek. I whine in protest, just wanting to cuddle with mommy in her bed. She smiles at me as I pout.

"Just a few days in here baby. Then I can take you home, hmm?" She continues playing with my hair as I hum in response.

"Do you want something to eat, little prince? You haven't eaten real food in a bit." I nod and she smiles and goes to a fridge, grabbing something out and heating it up in the microwave.

She comes and sits on my bed with it when she's done and tries to hand feed me chicken noodle soup.

I take a few bites before whining. "Don't want."

She nods and takes a bite herself before putting it in a table.

"How about... hmm I think they have apple sauce? You want that?" I nod and she gets it for me and feeds it to me.

"Can you eat a few bites of chicken now?" I pout and shake my head. She sighs.

"I'll let you have pudding if you just have a few bites, baby boy?"

I agree and she feeds me some chicken before giving me pudding like promised.

While she giving me pudding a nurse comes in.

"Oh, he's awake? Hi Luke, I'm miss Jennifer, how're you?" She asks sweetly.

I shyly scoot towards Delilah and she chuckles and takes he pudding away from my mouth, making me whine slightly in protest.

"Answer her, Luke." She rubs a hand over my thigh.

"'M ok." I mutter, cheeks hot.

"No soreness? Your ribs feel ok?" She asks.

I shrug. "They kinda hurt. Not bad. My head huwts  mow- m-more."

"Oh, that might be because of the medicine honey. I'll get you something else, ok?"

"Mhm." I rub my eyes. "Thank you."

"Of course love. Ok, you keep eating, get your nutrients up. I'll ask the doctor about some different medicine that won't make your head hurt. Is there anything else wrong?"

"Dizzy."

"That'll happen when you get a concussion." She chuckles. "Just make sure mommy is helping you walk and whatnot." She smiles and I gasp.

"How did-"

"I told her baby, she knows what it is. It's ok." Mommy assures and I blush.

"Alright, I'll leave you two alone now. Press the button if anything changes or you need anything, yeah?" She says, and we agree before leaving.

I finish the pudding happily before scooting into mommys lap, and she smiles and cuddles me gently to her chest.

"I love you baby boy." She mumbles into my hair. I smile and bury my face in her neck.

"Love you too mommy."

"Can you stand, Luke? There's a few things we have to make sure you can do before you leave."

Mommy helps me stand up as I blush shyly under the doctor that's examining me's stare.

"How about walking?" I take a few steps but it hurts my ribs and back so I whine as sit down on the bed.

He does a quick physical examination, checking all my bruises and broken bones.

"Ok, we'll get you a wheel chair before you go home and send a prescription to right aide with pain killers." He turns to Delilah. "Make sure as eating properly so his bones heal faster. Malnutrition will seriously slow down the healing and could be very hurtful to his overall health, especially right now. "

"Course." Delilah agrees. They talk about adult stuff for a while more before the doctor has mommy sign stuff and leaves the room.

"Here baby boy." She mumbles as she helps me into some plaid pajama pants that are really soft and a white t shirt.

The doctor brings in a wheelchair and mommy helps me in it and then they take me to mommys car.

Mommy picks up the pain killers and takes me back to her house, carrying me inside.

"Hey babe? Let mommy talk to you." She says as she sits me on the couch and then kneels in front of me.

"Am I in trouble?" I mumble.

"No baby, not in trouble. I just want to know why you didn't tell mommy? Something worse couldve happened. You need to trust me and tell me important stuff." She frowns, making me feel guilty.

"But- didn't want- leave." I mumble, tears filling my eyes.

"You have to trust mommy, ok? I'm not gonna leave you. I promise. I love you, ok?" She kisses me and I nod and say it back, pouting.

"You promise you're gonna tell mommy important stuff now?"

"Promise." I smile gently and nod.

"Ok baby. Let's take a nap, yeah?" She smiles and sits on the couch next to me, pulling me into her chest like the first time we cuddled, and I smile and quickly fall asleep.
