"All done." Airi whispers to herself just as she unpacks the last of her and her son's things. They had successfully moved into their new Houston house in a weeks time. The house is big and beautiful. Actually better than she imagined. There's more space for her and her siblings so that's a major plus. And it's a lot nicer than their previous home. Although she was nervous about the move at first she figured that it was the best thing for her family, whom seemed a lot happier in Texas.
Just as she stands up to leave her new room she hears the faint sound of her ringing phone. She scurries over her bed to pick it up and cringes at the name that flashes across the screen. Trey. She takes a deep breath before calmly answering the phone.
"Hello." The voice on the other in of the phone greets her with a song of hello which immediately makes her smile.
"Hi, Trey. To what do I owe this phone call?"
She likes the friendship her and Trey have developed over the short amount of time they have known each other. He's truly like a brother to her and she's thankful for him, especially when she needed someone to talk to. He's always there to sit with her at ridiculous times of night to talk about what's on her mind or what's going on in the world. They really could talk for hours about nothing and still have a good time. But she silently hated herself because the one time she really needed an ear, she couldn't say anything. Especially to him because he's too close to The Problem. Hell, him and The Problem are blood brothers. They can't get any closer than that.
"I want you to bring your ass over here!!" She laughs at the usage of profanity spewing from his mouth and rolls her eyes because this is his 3rd time this pass week asking, well more like demanding her to come over to their new house. Apparently, himself, his brother and Jazz had purchased a house together and of course she missed the house warming party because she was back home in Detroit at the time. She remembered the exact day Trey had called and she could hear the excitement in his voice which automatically made her light up. She was more than happy for them, because in all honesty they deserved it. They were hard workers and she's proud of their accomplishments.
"Umm-" Before she can utter her sentence of doubt the voice on the other end rudely cuts her off.
"Oh hell no. Ain't no umm, you're coming over today and that's final! I've been trynna get your ass over here for almost a week and you been putting me off! I haven't seen you in almost 2 months and I miss you, so COME OVER NOW!" She just sits quietly on the other end waiting for him to finish up his well deserved rant. He's right. This would be her 4th time declining his invitation.
Whenever he'd ask she'd just tell him she was busy unpacking and getting settled which was an understandable excuse. But now, she's had enough time to do everything she needed to do and she knows that he knows that. A week was enough time to settle and she's running out of excuses.
Now, either she accepts the invitation or decline with a lame excuse on how she's not feeling well at the moment so she'll have to come over at a later date.
She hates lying to him because he is her friend but she's just not ready to face what or who's been on her mind for damn near 2 months. She'd rather not say his name because her heart seemed to skip a beat at the mere mention of it. She's angry at herself for having such ridiculous reactions and wishes to god that somehow all of the craziness going on inside of her would stop. She's tired of the internal battle she constantly has with herself about something that shouldn't be this much of an issue.
She sighs loudly as she battles yet again with herself on what she should do. She knows that she definitely wants to see Trey because she really missed him over the past months that they haven't seen each other. And of course she didn't want him thinking that she didn't want to see him. But she's a ball of nerves because she knows that if she does chooses to go, there is no doubt in her mind that a certain someone will be present.
"Okay Okay, I'll come. What time?" She just could not find it in herself to say no to her friend a 4th time. Especially with no explanation on why.
"You can come over at 6." He sang out through the phone which sends Airi into another round of giggles.
"Okay, you can hush now. I'll be there." She shakes her head but smiles nonetheless before ending the call. She sighs in happiness because she's going to see her friend after a long time but also in nervousness because she's about to see (and she knows she's gonna regret the use of this word but) her crush too.
Here's Chapter 3, enjoy!🙃
