"Hey." She hears just as she's about to turn the knob. Her body freezes for a split second as she silently wonders if she's been caught or not but it doesn't take her long to recognize the voice as Trey's. She lets out a sigh of relief because she didn't know what she would have done had it been anybody else especially a certain someone that she wish she could remain unseen by. She wasn't sure how long but she knew that right now wasn't the time.
"You ready?" She nods before opening the door and heading out with Trey right on her trail. After getting in his truck she carefully snaps her seatbelt and waits for him to start the engine. He immediately turns on some tunes that he knows they can both jam to before slowly backing out of the driveway. As soon as he's out of his neighborhood he comes to a realization.
"You know I don't know where you stay, right?"
"You're right, my bad." She laughs a little before programming her address into his phone. She forgot that she hadn't told him. Hell, the only people that knows she's here is him and Queen. She knows that it won't be like that for long. It's only a matter of time before everyone from the "squad" finds out.
"Oh that's not too far from here, so you can come over anytime!" Trey exclaims with excitement behind his words. He really did like being around her. Even though they've only met some months ago he really connects with her energy and he likes that he can talk to her about any and everything. She's like the best friend he's never had. Literally it has always been just him and his brother. No outside people involved. He and his brother were like two peas in a pod.
They leaned on each other for support. There was never any need for anyone else. But Trey noticed that as he got older his brother wanted to do his own thing. Not that there's anything wrong with that, he's actually happy for him. And it's not like he's not there for him because he knows that Ar'mon would drop everything if there was ever a time that he needed him. But he couldn't help the need to have another person he could talk to about personal things that bother him, and when he and Airi met they connected like that. He's honestly grateful for their friendship.
"Ha! You're always thinking of ways to get me over to your house Trey." Airi rolls her eyes slightly after making this statement. It's true and she loves to be around him but she couldn't shake the fact that she's been having thoughts about his brother that she shouldn't be having. It was kind of hard being around him because he's so close to the one person that she's trying to avoid. She knows that sooner or later they are bound to run into each other. They both hang with the same people, so them bumping into each other is inevitable.
She is suddenly pulled away from her thoughts at the sound of the car stopping and a voice ringing in her ears.
"This is nice. I'd love to see the inside but unfortunately I have shit to do today and Jazz is getting on my damn nerves with all these text messages."
Airi giggles as she watches him curse at his phone. He's always a character. Goofy but talented nonetheless and she thinks that is what she likes most about him. He's ODE fun to be around but works his ass off when it's time.
"Well, I'd love to invite you in but unfortunately I have to shit." It takes only a few seconds for Trey to process what was said before he breaks out into a fit of boisterous laughter. She soon joins him and before you know it they're both bent over backwards with tears at the brim of their eyes.
See, this is the Airi only Trey and Queen saw. Everyone else sees a quiet, shy girl who seems so unsure about herself. She's always cautious around the others, never knowing what to say or if it is the right thing to say at the moment. Always walking on eggshells because she didn't know how the others would perceive her. Always guarded and she only lets them see what she chooses to. But it was always different with Trey and Queen. For some reason the three of them clicked. She could always be her true self around them. She felt as if she didn't have to hide behind some shy facade because they always accepted her for who she is. They knew every flaw, every mistake, every secret.
Well, almost every secret but you couldn't blame her for keeping this one under wraps. She wasn't sure of the consequences if she ever told anyone about her feelings. She definitely trusted Trey but she wasn't sure if this was a secret he was willing to keep. I mean it is concerning his brother whom he is especially close with. She didn't truly believe that he would go blabbing her secrets because he's never done it before but a certain part of her, a more cautious part feels as if it's best she just doesn't mention it. Him not knowing isn't such a bad thing.
"Omg, you are something else!" Trey stutters out between his laughter.
"What? It's the truth, my stomach hurts." She's said this lie so much that it's actually becoming true. On the ride over here she noticed that her stomach became a little unsettled.
"We'll getcho ass out of my car cause you not about to mess up my seats witcho shitty booty ass!" This sent the duo into another round of laughter.
"You better stop making me laugh Trey!" Airi warns as the need to go becomes more prominent. His face turns from one of amusement to a more horrific one.
"No for real, I love you Air but get out!" She laughs but slowly exits the truck.
"I love you too. See you later." She gives a slight wave and heads to the front door of her new house. Trey rolls the window down slightly to yell after her.
"Hope you feel better babe. Call me later." Airi nods before turning the key and going inside. Once she's safely inside Trey exits her driveway and heads back to his house where he is sure Ar'mon and Jazz are having a fit about his leaving.
"Nigga where you been, we been waiting for about 2 hours now." He hears as soon as he steps foot into their house. As he expected.
Trey rolls his eyes at the exaggerated time his brother gave because he knows he was only gone for 20 minutes at the most.
"Nigga you dramatic as fuck. I was only gone for a lil minute. I had to drop Airi at home."
"Drop her off? We ain't even seen her yet? Damn, she just don't fuck with us." Jazz chimes in looking between Ar'mon and Trey.
"Yeah, we ain't even know she was moving down here. I ain't talked to her since she left." Ar'mon mentions more so to himself. For some reason he felt like he was being avoided by her.
"She wasn't feeling good this morning so I took her home. Ion know why she ain't tell y'all, maybe she just forgot to mention it. They were busy moving after all." Trey reasons with them on behalf of his good friend. Although he didn't know himself why Airi hadn't told the squad she'd be moving to Houston. He did find it rather odd however he knew that she was a private person so she probably felt no need to go spewing her business to them.
"Whatever bro, we gotta get going though."
And with that the three of the all hopped into Trey's truck and headed off to find furnishings for their fairly new place.Hey guys! Here's Chapter 6, Enjoy!
