South ~ A Joshaya Story

Tick Tock

It's been seven weeks since I told Josh how I feel, and all I did was screw up what we sort of had .

He swallowed really hard before saying " I think - " . All the sudden there was a bang bang bang against the table . It was Corey .

"I just wanted to thank all of you for coming such a long way just to eat a meal with our family ! I wanted to say how excited I am that Josh is moving into our home !"  I quickly glanced  at Josh who was looking at me , I looked away . " So I just wanted to say , Happy Thanksgiving to my whole family ! "

I was laying on Riley's bed thinking of how long me and Josh haven't talked . He's avoided me since that night when he got interrupted . But , he might be happy he got interrupted by Corey , I don't know . Every day since then if I went into the living room or kitchen and he was there , he would walk out and go into his room . When Riley went into his room and I went with , he would quickly wave and then dart out . Riley saw it , too . She knows he's acting weird .

" Come on Maya ! " Riley said pulling me from my trance .

" Why ? " I groaned .

"Don't you want breakfast ? "

" Good point . " I sighed and sat up . Riley pulled me off the bed and dragged me into the living room , where Josh was .

" Good morning Uncle Josh ! " Riley shouted , making him jump .

" God . " Josh muttered under his breath , barely clear . He looked over by Riley to see me . His hands started to lightly shake . He stood up from the couch and started to walk away . " Good morning - "

"Ah uh ! " Riley shouted .

Josh stopped in place immediately . " What ?"

" Where are you going ? " Riley pushed .

"My room of course . " He added a small , fake laugh . I rolled my eyes , he noticed .

" Why ? "

" I need to get something. " He answered back very quickly .

" What do you need ? " Riley was obviously tired of this . I used to try to talk to him but eventually I gave up .

" Um , my phone ! " He shouted the last part a little too loud . He started to walk away until Riley interrupted again .

" Maya can go get that for you . " She smirked . I looked at her like she was crazy , once again , he noticed .

" No , she doesn't have to do tha-"

" I will ! " This time I interrupted him . Before he could answer I quickly walked into the hall , and into his room.

I looked around for his phone until I found it in his bed . I grabbed it and went back about into the living room . I walked over to Josh and handed him his phone while saying " Here you go . " I made sure to touch his hand as long as possible without it being noticeable. He gave a shaky , little smile , and stepped away from me .

" So we're eating donuts , do you wanna eat some with us ? " Riley asked Josh .

" We don't have any already checked . "

" Oh really ? Because we have donuts . "

" Are you sure about that ? "

" Yeah , we hide them for later . " I joined in . He looked at me again with slight fear . I rolled my eyes .

" Do you want some ? " Riley asked .

"Uh , S-Sure . " He hesitated .

" Okay , look away !" She yelled but he didn't move so I turned him around myself to where he was facing the front door .

Riley ran back into her room , into her closet , to the secret mini fridge we bought that no one knew about because we bought it together . She grabbed the donuts and ran back into the living room and opened the fridge and dig around just for a more secret effect .

" Ok ! You can turn around now !"  Riley yelled on the top of her lungs . She put them on a plate and stuck them in microwave and turned it on . 

Josh turned back around slowly to see me right there , it made him jump .

" Why are you so scared of me ? " I ask getting a little closer .

" I'm not . " He said softly with a hard swallow . 

"Are you sure about - "  I was interrupted by a knock on the door .

Josh took that as a get away and quickly walked to the door . He opened the door to a girl a little shorter than him who was brunette , tan , with long mid chest length hair .

" Camille ? " Josh looked shocked and looked full of regret for opening the door .

" Josh ! "

"Why are you here ?"

"I came to see my boyfriend!" She said pulling him into a hug . I stumbled back into a recliner and just sat there .
