Maya's POV
Later that day , Riley , Lucas , Farkle , Zay , and I walk into the apartment to see Josh sitting in the living room bay window looking down at his hands . As soon as the door closes behind us , he looks up and looks through all of us until his eyes find mine . Then , he keeps them there .
" You are an awful person !" Riley shouts out to Josh.
Josh breaks eye contact with me and looks at Riley . " Camille was an awful person ." Josh stands up and walks towards us . " I really tried to keep us together , but I couldn't take her anymore ."
" Whatever ." Riley says walking off towards the kitchen . She goes and grabs ice cream out of the freezer .
Josh sighs and looks at me . I give a small smile . I start to walk off to the kitchen to get some ice cream with Riley when Lucas calls out to me .
"Hey , Maya ..." Lucas starts , grabbing my hand .
" Yeah ." I say looking into his green eyes .
" Can I talk to you for a minute ?" Lucas asks with a small smile ."
" S-Sure ." I say with a half smile .
" Bay window !" Riley yells with a mouthful of ice cream . Lucas and I laugh as we go to Riley's room , holding hands .
When we walk into Riley's room , Lucas shuts the door behind him , lets go of my hand , and sits down at the bay window . I awkwardly stand in the middle of Riley's room and look around .
" Sit . " Lucas says pointing at the seat beside him .
I slowly walk over and sit down in the opposite side of the window - my usual spot .
" Maya , " Lucas sighs . I look up at him ," What are we ? "
" No . First , why did you kiss me ?"
" Why do you think ?" Lucas asks sarcastically.
" I just wanna know ."
" Well , you're so different from everyone else . You make me laugh , I love the little games we play , and you're perfect , beautiful , smart , amazing , and the exciting one of the group ." Lucas pauses , " Everyone tells me Riley and I are perfect for each other because we're both so alike . But , no one understands that you needs opposites to work out ."
" What do you mean ? " I ask .
" Sugar and sugar don't go great together . Sugar and spice , peanut butter and jelly , sweet and salty ; they all go together so well . "
Lucas waits for my answer , but I don't give him one . I just blankly stare at him , waiting for him to continue .
Eventually , he does . " Maya , I just think we're like magnets . Riley and I are both one side - the positive per say - we don't attract each other , but you and I Maya - positive and negative - attract each other and , even though it doesn't seem like it , we orbit around each other in daily lifestyles ."
" Lucas I don't think you're acting right ."
" What ?"
" We've been great friends since forever . When did you start think otherwise ?" I slightly laugh .
" In Texas ."
" Lucas ," I say more seriously as his eyebrows pull together . I grab his hand and squeeze it . " That was over four years ago .
" I know ." He smiles .
I let his hand go , realizing he might think of it differently . " I - " I restart , trying to think what to say . " I think , we should restart ." Lucas gives me a confused look and frowns - I continue . " I think we should start over , give us a brand new , fresh , clean slate . Right now we're just good friends , but that doesn't mean we'll always be . We might grow into something more special ."
