Movie Night - Part 1

Josh POV

I'm in my room listening to music when I hear a knock on my door .

I turn off my music . " Come in ! "

The door handle slowly turns and the door is quietly opened . "Mind if I come in ?" The beautiful girl says , poking her head through the door frame .

No . You may not come into my bed room . Where we are alone .

" Of course . Please , sit . " I pat the spot on my bed next to me.

I am an idiot .

" Thanks . "

When she walks over , the breath is knocked out of me . Maya is wearing a tight black t shirt looking dress with a red flannel around her waist . It's something so simple - and something so basic , Camille used to wear all the time - but Maya somehow makes it look new , and bold , and risky .

" You look .. " I try to swallow , but my throat is dry . So , I clear my throat instead . " Nice . "

She snickers and sits next to me . " Thanks . "

We just sit for a few minutes in silence . And , to be completely honest , I start getting  a little aggravated with Maya because I feel like she just came in here to tease me . I love her company , don't get me wrong - it's just the fact that she's not mine , I can't do anything to her .

Where my mind wanders with her in my room , alone , makes my body start to lose control..  

" So what brought you in here ? " I try to ask as nicely as possible .

" I came in here ... to talk . "

I smirk . " About ? "

" Please . Come tonight . "

" I'd rather not ."

" Why not ? " Pain flickers in her eyes . I didn't mean to hurt her .

" I don't want to intrude . "

" How would you ? "

" Well , it's your friend group . I don't want to make any of you uncomfortable or feel like you have to include me . You guys have inside jokes and have gone through things together that I haven't ."

" Well , Josh , Riley and I both invited you and we want you to come . Yes , our group has been through things you don't understand , but that doesn't mean that we can't make new memories with you .Plus , Bradley is coming . Bradley is a complete stranger , everyone in our group is friends with you ."

" I don't want Lucas to be upset with me either."

" Why would Lucas be upset with you ?"

" Maya . "

She looks at me dumbfounded . 

" Lucas wanted to go on a date with you . Not all of his friends . "

" We decided it was going to be a friend date anyways . So , I don't really think he cares ."

" Maya , I think you need to either make it clear to Lucas that you two are just friends , or tell him to want to start a relationship ."

" W-what ?"

" I don't think you're purposefully doing it , but Maya , you're just leading him on ."

" But , I don't know how I feel about him . "

" But you're hurting him . I know you aren't trying to - you're actually trying not to - but you're hurting him . "
