rome sees her and carter outside. clems leaning on carter, whom is leaning on his car, rome assumes. it makes a hiss leave his lips as she giggles, pulling on his collar.

clem is just that. laughs and happiness. he doesn't get it. he doesn't get how someone can be happy in this life.

shaking his head, he walks across the parking lot till he gets to his car and hops in, starting it up before pulling his phone out of his pocket. he scrolls through it till he sees the familiar instagram profile of clem's. swiping to her dms and messaging her a simple - 'hey'.

he doesn't stress a reply like normal people would. instead he hopes she'll stress for his reply. he likes to make people sweat. it makes him proud, ecstatic.

rome jumps in his seat when someone hits on his car window.

it's clem. the big brown curls peaking over her oval face.

he smirks, rolling the window down. "hey, thought you were busy sucking your boyfriends face."

the smile falls from her face and it turns into a frown. rome hates himself suddenly. he hates that he made her sad.

"don't be like that." she says, leaning into the car through the window. their faces only inches apart. her scent is already filling up the small space and it makes rome feel so incredibly alive and happy.

"okay. well, is there something you need? as you can see I was just about to leave this hell hole." rome informed, tapping on the steering wheel.

"mm." clem hummed with a small nod. "well, as you can see i need a ride."

they grin at each other and soon enough, he's driving and she's in his passenger seat.

"who usually drives you home?" rome asks, glancing at her briefly then to the road.

"sometimes i'll drove myself, most of the time it's carter, though." she replies, curling her bottom lip into her mouth. rome watches her actions. something he'll never get tired of. watching her. adoring her.

"what?" her eyes found his. he doesn't miss the blush offending her cheeks. her face turning into a rosy tinted color.

"nothing." he mutters, giving attention back to the road ahead.

"do you like the rain?" clem asks rome after a stretch of silence.

"the rain?" he furrows his brows at her question, curious to where she's headed with it.

"yeah. I mean, some people do. others don't. I just want to know what category you fall in." she explains.

rome shrugged, "I don't know. I don't really have an opinion on it, I guess. rain is okay though."

her lips twitch and even from the corner of his eye, he doesn't miss it. he would never.

for some reason he's smiling now though. and now he feels hot. too hot. the car feels too small and the musics too loud and rome is irritated.

"you okay?" clem's voice grabs rome out of his haste anger.

his hands unclench the tight grasp on the wheel. the pounding on his chest slows down to a normal rate and he feels okay. he feels okay because clem asked him if he was.

it scared him though. the thought that someone had so much control over him drove him crazy.

he knew that he didn't want that. he didn't want someone- clem having control.
