rome had been following clem since he saw her walk out of the school after the last bell rang.

he knew he was being weird and that he probably should've said something to her instead of hiding behind trees to watch her get in her friends car but this seemed to be the more logical thing in romes perspective.

he watched as clem hopped into the passenger seat of the girls car and drove off. before the car got out of view, he could've sworn he saw her crying.

just as rome was turning around and out of the secrecy of the small area of trees, he caught glimpse of carter. but not just carter.

carter with a girl. blonde hair. tall. plaid skirt. blue sweater. perky smile. elliot.

she leaned in closer to him and rome clenched his jaw. his feet began moving. he hugged her. they were hugging.

rome stopped, turned around, and narrowed his eyes at the cement parking lot. he only realized then just how eager his heart was pumping. he wondered what he was going to do once he made the trek towards carter.

letting out another deepbreath, he walked to his car and drove home. mind swirling with taboo thoughts of carter and elliot. why were they so close?
was she going to kiss him?

rome wanted nothing more than for carter and clem to be broken up, but he would never wish clem to be cheated on. especially from someone so pathetic like carter. especially on someone so special like clem.

his lips twitched by the mere thought of her curls sprinting in her eyes.

a loud bang on his car passenger window yanked rome out of his thoughts. he flinched, shifting his head towards the window. he was greeted by sams face pressing against the window.

"you look like a freaking pig." rome yelled, noticing his nostrils pull up because of the pressure of the window.

sam rolled his eyes and opened the door. without any more words, he sat down and pulled it shut.

"what are you doing?" rome asked when sam buckled up.

"gotta be safe. seatbelts, always." sam winked, reaching his arm over to turn up the radio but rome pushed his hands away.

"no I mean, why are you in my car?" rome clarified, arching a brow irritatingly.

"I was thinking...maybe..we could hang out?" sam suggested.

"do what?"

"um. I didn't think this far out." sam muttered under his breath.

rome rolled his eyes, "you are a handful, I swear."

"OH! I got it!" sam announced, clapping his hands once. "bowling!"

"bowling?"

"bowling."

"I don't know how to bowl." rome admitted after a lingering moment of silence.

sam opened his mouth like he was about to respond but then just bursted into a hysterical laugh.

rome punched him in the gut.
