Chapter 3- Brother in Arms

Okay so this chapter is mainly Chicago PD and will focus on his Jay and his best friend from the rangers, Mouse.

Jays p.o.v:
Flashback:
"Halstead!" Something - someone? - pounded on my chest, the dull thud echoing through my body, causing shooting pains everywhere...
"Come on you bastard, open your eyes!"
Well, since he'd asked so politely... I forced my eyelids open and regretted it almost immediately as my already dry and sore eyes were assaulted by thick, irritating smoke. I coughed slightly and blinked, trying to bring the face that hovered just in front of my own into focus. Finally succeeding, I saw a pair of intense pale blue eyes staring at me out of a face covered in dirt and blood. Mouse...It was my friend and my partner Mouse. He cracked a smile.
"Hey, hey, that's good. Ok, man, hold tight. We've gotta go, now!". Next minute I know he and Jenson are dragging me from our burning Humvee, as they do pain spreads through my left leg, I'm almost certain its broken.

Present day:
"Hey Jay? Earth to Jay..." Mouse says, waving his hand in front of my face.
"Huh...erhh sorry, what did you want?"
"I was saying we need to go grocery shopping today – and grab some bits from around town....are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine...didn't sleep well last night, that's all" He nods and heads to his room to get dressed. I pour myself a cup of coffee, before going to get dressed myself.

Flashback:
I keep falling in and out of consciousness, "ehh....what...what happened?"
"Hey, it's okay relax, you're on your way to the hospital, your Humvee hit an IED, but you and 2 others made it out ok, just relax".
Not soon after do I arrive at the hospital. They check me out and see that my leg is badly broken. The set it and plaster cast it. Soon I'm in my own room with an empty bed besides me. I press the help button and a few minutes later a nurse walks in,
"Everything okay sir?"
"Yeah, I wanted to know about my partner, Greg Gerwitz?"
"Ahh yes, Greg, he has to have emergency surgery on his abdomen/hip to remove some shrapnel but he's stable in recovery now and will be joining you in here soon" I sigh a sigh of relive,
"oh, thank god, Thank You"
"Your welcome, I'll see you when they bring your friend and until then if you need anything just buzz" I nod and relax back down into the bed. An hour or so later they bring in Mouse, (Greg), he's asleep and still looks quite pale. Our doctor come over to me and gives me an update on him.

Present Day:
"Is that everything?" Mouse asks me, considering we had already been to 4 shops and we were now in our local supermarket.
"ermm...beer can never have too much beer – and did you get Taylor's juice?" I say smiling, knowing full well he forgot to get some of the juice Taylor likes for when she is round. He shakes his head and walks of to grab that whilst I head to the alcohol section. I pick up more beer and head to the checkout with Mouse. We pay and head out to my car. We load up the shopping and head home.
"Right I'm going out when we get back – should I grab some food on the way home?" I ask, glancing at the time to see it's already 3pm.
"Yeah – sounds good" He responds, right as I pull up outside our apartment.
"Okay, I'll text to see if Taylor is round" I say smirking, knowing full well that she probably will be.
"Okay, how's things with Erin?" He asks, making me sigh.
"Ermm, complicated but I think we're finally getting there" I say, hopeful as we have sorted a lot of issues out over the past few months and have even spoke about moving in together.
"Good...that's where you're going now isn't it?" Mouse asks, making me smile.
"I'll see ya later" I say, as he gets out of the car with the shopping before I drive away.

Driving through town, my mind wonders to what Erin wanted to meet up and talk about. I try to hold in my nerves and look normal as I pull up outside millennium park and walk inside to where I agreed to meet Erin by the Cloud Gate. As I approach the statue, I see Erin standing holding two cups of coffee. I smile at her as I walk closer.
"Hey" I say, as she hands me one of the cups.
"Thanks" I say, wrapping my hands around the warm cup in the brisk winters wind.
"So, what's this about?" I ask, after giving her a hug.
"Well, I wanted to talk about us..." She says, making me panic a little.
"Okay..." I add, nudging her to continue.
"So, I was thinking...we've been through a lot and sorted out a lot, and now I'm ready for the next step in all of this." She says, making me smile.
"I want us to move in together..." She says, making me lean in and kiss her.
"So that's a yes?" She asks, chuckling a little.
"Obviously...I guess if I can handle your millions of pillows I can handle you..." I say, making her laugh.
"So, the question is – who moves in with who – or do we look for a new place?" She asks, making me even happier.
"Let's look for somewhere new...then we can officially call it ours" I say, before we kiss again.
"Let's go, it's kinda cold" I say, wrapping my arm around her.
"Want to come for dinner? I think Taylor will be there..." I say, pulling my phone out to text Mouse.
"Sure, but I'm driving – I'll meet you at yours?" She asks, as we reach the car park.
"Yeah...I mean I'm picking up Rusters (Made up burger place) on the way home...want your usual?"
"Yeah" She says, giving me one more kiss before we go our separate ways.

Having stopped to pick up the food I head home. When I get there I see Erin, Taylor and Mouse all sat in the living room with a beer chatting.
"Food" I call out, as I separate everyone's orders. We all grab our food and settle down in the living room.
"So, me and Erin have some news..." I say, making the others look towards us.
"We're moving in together...we're looking for places now" Erin says, making Taylor get up and hug her.
"Ahh, that's great! Congrats guys!" She squeals making us laugh.
"Does this mean that I can finally get rid of ya?" Mouse jokes.
"You'll miss me" I say, smirking.
"Yeah – yeah" He responds.

After eating we decide to sit and watch a movie – which leads to both of the girls falling asleep layyed against me and Mouse. I'm soo excited as this is just the start of our future.
